My first time visiting OKC and first time to Hideaway Pizza. My daughter-in-law works here and is very happy here and we came to eat after her shift. I was so surprised at how many people were here and how big the dining area is. I live in Las Vegas and there are hardly any dine in pizza restaurants left. The parking lot was full ! It reminded me of the old days when the family went to pizza restaurants and dined in , had a beer , played the jukebox , played some video games , and had a good family night.
We started out with Garlic Knots with Marinara Sauce. They were fluffy , soft , and pretty good. I'm not really a fan of Garlic Knots , but my son and daughter in law like to get them. I also got a Small Just A Beginner Salad with Thousand Island Dressing and Croutons. It was fresh and the dressing was thick and good. I got it with no Black Olives also. We also had 3 Pepsis. I got a taster of their house APA and Ale and I wasn't a fan of either.
Now to the main event. We got a Medium Thin Crust Pizza , Half and Half. One side Pepperoni , Italian Sausage , and Jalapeños. The other side Paradise Pizza with no Mushrooms and no Tomatoes. The Paradise Pizza is a white sauce. The pizza is very good. The crust was just the right thickness , not to thin and not to thick with a good flavor. I liked the Pepperoni , Italian Sausage , and Jalapeños side better than the Paradise Pizza. The Paradise Pizza is my daughter in laws favorite. It wasn't bad , I just prefer a more traditional pizza.
When you first come in there is a window where you can see the cooks making your pizza. They also have a bar for beer and mixed drinks. The decor is a little dark with big booths which is just like the old days , so I like it. They also give a 10% Military Discount which I appreciate since I'm a Veteran and not my places do that anymore. I was pretty impressed with the restaurant and the employees were friendly and attentive. I would definitely recommend you coming to Hideaway Pizza to experience the good old days of eating out with the family and having a good hot and fresh pizza and spending time...
Read moreTime: 13:00 on an April Saturday
Seating & Ambiance: Booths and regular tables were available. Lighting was the normal restaurant level of dimness.
Customer Service: The hostess was a regular greeter lacking enthusiasm and a sense of interest toward the customers. She presented more of a required disposition of her position instead of excellence. There were three other staff members standing around, behind the hostess' wall. They did not appear as welcoming as our waitress, Obi. She was full of energy and greeted us with exceptional customer service and the desire to make our dining experience exceptional. Obi interacted with us and answered any questions pertaining to older menu items. Thankfully, the older menu item we were interested in (Sooner Schooner) was able to be prepared! Our appetizer (50/50 mozzarella cheese sticks and fried mushrooms) arrived in a timely manner and appropriate temperature. The pizza took another 20 minutes to arrive, which was a concern. Fortunately, another staff member brought the pizza pies to our table with proper pizza temperatures. Obi had assistance with our drinks and pies, until she could come back to serve our table. She had at the least a larger family that came in later. It was understandable that she needed a little help from her peers. As we walked out, we were thanked for "coming in".
Quality of Food: The temperature of the appetizers and pizza were as anticipated. They met our expectations for texture and flavor. Presentation of the food was good.
Overall Experience: While the greeter and front door team was lacking enthusiasm and personality, were pleased with our waitress and food quality. We will likely return to this Hideaway...
Read moreI placed an order for pickup at 5:45 pm on Friday, August 13. I was told that it would be ready in 45 minutes, but I wasn’t going to be able to pick it up that soon so I asked for it to be ready at 7:15. I arrived at the restaurant at 7:10 and parked in a curbside parking spot. I called the restaurant because I didn’t know what I was supposed to do on arrival. They told me there were workers out there who should come to my car to check me in. They came a few minutes later. I had three of my four small children with me in the car and I could tell by the number of cars in the curbside spots that it was going to take a little bit to get our pizza. So we waited patiently for 20 minutes. Then I found one of the curbside workers and asked her if she knew when my order might be ready. She was nice, but seemed to have no idea how to check on my order. She told me something about a walkie talkie and she wasn’t sure where the other walkie talkie was and that she would try to go figure it out. She offered to bring my two older kids a drink, which was nice of her. Then my kids had to go to the bathroom so I took them all in the restaurant to do that. As we were leaving the restaurant to return to our car to wait they had my order at the pickup area inside. It was 8:00 pm at this time. I was told my order would be ready at 7:15. No one apologized for our wait, no one offered a coupon for our next visit, nothing. I guess when you’re selling good pizza you don’t have to worry about customer service or accuracy. I know how Hideaway gets on the weekend. That’s why I placed my order an hour and a half before I wanted to pick it up and still had to wait 45 minutes longer. It’s really...
