Not a family style restaurant at all if those looking to dine out are looking for a typical Mexican restaurant. This place was more like a club, and it was super annoying. Definitely not kid friendly.
Well. I was very excited to try this new Mamasitas, and waited patiently. So first of all, it was the service that killed it the most. That and after around 730 they kicked off the lights and it was non stop disco light flashes to the face and I couldn't really see my food, or talk to my date over the music, much less try not to have a seizure over this table of food lol. Like I get what it's trying to be, but it would be better if it was separated by two areas. One for food, one for drinking.
Also, we ordered drinks first, and we got our food first with no tortillas to eat them with. Then when the fajitas cooled down we got the tortillas. That killed it for me. Then we got the drinks.
The food, it was okay. Got fajitas for two 23.99 and they cooked the shrimp with the chicken at the same time. What happens when we do that? Dry chewy shrimp. Food was also bland. Like little to no seasoning. All of it. The salsa was like a fire roasted kind, also bland and zero spice. We barely ate any of it. Then when we order two King Micheladas for 6.99 each—we were told it was a good deal because it had more than just one beer in it, hince the name. The waitress is the one that talked us into getting them. So we said sure, sounds like a good deal. Then she came back and asked us if we wanted two or three beers in each. I said IDK you're making this difficult, just the two or however it comes. We got the drinks, and it tasted like michelada with sprite in it? It was really sweet and not what we were expecting, hardly any clamato. My date didn't want hers because she couldn't do it, so we said hey this isn't a typical michelada can she just get a regular one. No sprite or sugar or whatever. So she liked the one she got and I told them I'll drink both of these king ones in 32 oz glasses, which I didn't. I was too full.
So the bill comes and it's 73 bucks and some change. They over charged me by a lot. 23.99 and 6.99 times two and one other beer for 5.99 That's 43.96 before tax. She notice she over charged some things and said she would fix it after I had to tell her. She also said the drink prices weren't right in the menu and that they are really 11.99 each. Y'all just opened last weekend.. been open for 5 or 6 days.. Like.. also, you're the one that suggested we get those drinks and you said it was better because of the extra beer you get, then you just turned around and charged us twice for it? So we waited a long while and she came back with it being 57.52 I said look that still ain't right I want to pay for what the menu price said it was. I put a 100.00 on the table and she left. Came back with two 20s and two 1s. She didn't fix it....and where is my other 48 cents? Also, how am I suppose to tip you? That's the only cash I had on me.
One of the worst dining experiences I've ever had, and I got ripped off. Definitely never going back.
Update: and they had 3 dollar beers tonight on Thursday of their opening, and 2 dollar tacos and the waitress said nothing! So hold on...WTF did you charge me full price on these beers?! Wow... You'd think a full refund is in order right? Just wow.
*In response to your response: Ah gee, thanks for addressing and defending the loud music as if that was even the main issue I had. Your waitress tried to rip me off. Then she took it to you the owner to fix my receipt. So you are the one that infact ripped me off. 6.99 for the king michelada and you charged me 11.99 each and on a night you advertised 3.00 beers. You don't honor your prices. I shouldn't have paid the bill. No one wants to eat rubbery shrimp in the dark with flashes of light hitting him in the face and they can't talk to their date. Also by looking at the other bad review I noticed you offered her a comp on her meal next time she wants to...
Read moreStay away from this place until they can get their act right. We had a group of about 25 people. They accomadated seating for us last minute which was appreciated. At the bar the manager,a customer ,and some what seemed to be friends were drinking. (I say this because they left and before we left which was a few hours later they came back). Mixing Business w/ pleasure is not a good look becuase your sttention isnt on the customer.
The girl that helped us was so patient and caring, the other guy that helped was not so great. The menus we recieved were strictly for drinks. The food menu was only retrieved via a QR code. All of our orders took at least 40 minutes to start coming to the table. Some people didnt get their order until 2 hours later(by the time they got their order they refused to pay for it because they had already gotten fed up with waiting and full from chips and salsa). It was obvious they were short staffed and inexperienced. The manager didn't care one bit about our experience because he was at the bar drinking. He didnt ask once what the special occasion was,(in this case a birthday dinner) the useless "Mamacitas Happy Birthday Cake" prop that was sitting on a counter behind the bar was never used. He didn't care to atleast come by and ask if anyone needed refills while their swamped waiters handled food, chips, salsa for other tables. As we waited and ate food we saw at least 4 customers come in and wait at the door only to turn around and leave because no one acknowledged them. The few that stayed were visibly upset for obvious reasons. Do not waste your...
Read moreThis place is absolutely abysmal. I wanted to like it since it was a new local food option. I went opening weekend and waited 30 minutes for drinks. It wasn't even that busy, and there seemed to be a lot of miscommunication between our waitress and the bartender. I figured I would give them a pass since it was opening weekend and they were figuring it out.
Today, I recommended the spot to my dad for lunch. He said he went and ordered Chile Rellenos right when they opened. He said he overheard the waitress and the cook fighting in the back and the cook was saying he didn't know how to make them. My dad switched his order to barbacoa tacos, and said the portions were extremely tiny and the meat was concerningly undercooked. Its too bad, it's such a cute space and I love supporting local when I can. Needless to say I will not be...
