A Tragic Sequel: From the Sad Roll to the Stale Chicken—This KFC’s Fall from Grace
Once upon a tray, I encountered The Saddest Roll Ever Baked—a doughy husk of a dream, deflated and defeated, served cold with a side of indifference. I chronicled that tragedy here, hoping someone would rescue the bread program from despair. But alas, dear reader, this story only gets darker.
Fast-forward to today. Hope returned briefly. A good visit a while back had me thinking maybe—just maybe—this KFC had turned a corner. So I returned. Foolish me.
I ordered with clarity: fresh chicken in my mashed potato bowl. I’m always willing to wait. I don’t want food that’s been lounging under a heat lamp like a sunburned retiree in a Florida diner. I was told—with confidence—that the chicken had “just come up.” Lies.
What I got was chicken so rubbery and stale it resisted my fork-spoon like it was fending off a mugger. Dry, chewy, obviously old—and not even hidden well. When I pointed it out, the manager flat-out refused to drop a fresh batch, insisting it was fresh, and that he’d “already given me fresh chicken,” so that was that.
So there I sat, watching my mom eat alone, while I waited for a refund and stewed in the deep-fried scent of managerial arrogance. Oh, and let’s not forget the sign luring you with strawberry cream pie poppers. They don’t have them. Haven’t for ages. They only serve the apple ones nobody likes. Why advertise fantasy desserts?
So, if you like cold bread that dreams of being food and chicken that tastes like it’s survived a drought, this is your place. But if you expect warmth, freshness, and a shred of hospitality? Head across town. This KFC—just west of the Shepherd Center—is the ghost of what a restaurant should be.
The roll was a warning. The chicken confirmed it. This is not a restaurant....
Read moreI usually don’t like to give bad reviews unless it’s well deserved. I went through the drive thru at 10:15, only ordered a kids meal because my appetite has been kinda poor lately so don’t want to waste food. I was asked to park to wait for fresh fries, no problem, parked and waited about 10 minutes. Got my food, drove to my hotel and my chicken was cold and beyond chewy! So I called them because I eat there often and figured it was the end of the night and they close at 10:30, likely a slight oversight, not going to make a big deal since the staff is usually very nice. Yaquesa answered the phone and I advise her, mind you very politely, of what customer I was and what I ordered and the purpose of my call. Her response was,” Let me see if we got some more!” Then while she was chewing in my ear, she challenged my dissatisfaction by saying that there is nothing wrong with these nuggets, and they ain’t old cause I made your food and I’m eating one now! They are just fine! I asked her if she was telling me that these nuggets are fresh and not old or cold and she said yes. But you can come back if you want to and get some more… all while still chewing! I almost came unglued because I’ve been at the hospital with my son alllll day and I hadn’t eaten anything at all! The hotel is at least 15 minutes from there and they closed at 10:30 and it’s now 10:45! So since I’m now having fresh fries, rubber chicken balls and a dose of ticked off for dinner, guess who’s getting a review reflective of their old chicken and terrible customer service! Fix it...
Read moreCame to pick up my boyfriends order and there was a homeless guy with his pants down outside their main door. Was idling in the driveway when I saw that and decided I didn't want to be near the guy - which seems normal to me - the woman at the speaker was nice at first until I told her I was there ti pick up and she told me policy said I can't at the window, I explained about the guy outside. She didn't care. A different girl and guy at the drive through window said they'd escort the guy off the premises and that he was causing trouble inside the restaurant as well, I went inside and the original lady I spoke with was Hella rude and told me she doesnt care about my safety..... I was really pissed but still managed to tell her have a good night and left....maybe also dried outta anger 😅They also shorted us on the chicken, ordered a 6 PC only got 4. Idk about anyone else but I think not wanting to interact with a homeless guys with his pants down is a normal response. I was really upset at the end of this. Everyone else was...
