We recently had the pleasure of dining at Neighborhood Provisions both in person and via takeout, and both experiences were absolutely wonderful. The food was consistently excellent, and the service during our in-person visit was attentive and friendly.
We started with the Calamari appetizer, which featured lightly fried calamari strips paired with a flavorful house sugo and lemon aioli. The calamari was perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside, and tender on the inside.
The Burrata Appetizer was another standout. This dish included heirloom baby tomatoes, truffled burrata, Belgian endive, spring greens, balsamic artichokes, and romesco pesto, all served with crusty bread. The combination of fresh ingredients and the creamy burrata was delightful.
The Burrata Me Up Pizza is a must-try. Topped with shaved prosciutto, burrata, mozzarella, artichoke, fried arugula, schmotz, cracked black pepper, and Mike's hot honey, it offered a perfect blend of savory and sweet flavors. The crust was just the right amount of crispy, and the toppings were generous and well-balanced.
For the main course, we tried the Steak Frites and the Fish and Chips. The Steak Frites featured a grilled 6oz prime Greater Omaha filet, served with truffle fries and black garlic-bone marrow butter. The steak was cooked to perfection, and the truffle fries were a delicious accompaniment.
The Fish and Chips were equally impressive, with beer-battered fresh Atlantic cod, sea salt pub fries, malt vinegar tartar, and spicy ketchup. The batter was light and crispy, and the fish was fresh and flaky.
To complement our meal, we enjoyed the Lavender Bubbles cocktail from the bar. This refreshing drink included Empress Elderflower & Rose Gin, lavender & vanilla simple syrup, lavender water, Scrappy's lavender bitters, fresh lemon juice, and a citrus vapor bubble. It was beautifully presented and had a unique, aromatic flavor profile.
Overall, Neighborhood Provisions has become one of our favorite dining spots. The quality of the food and the friendly service make it a standout choice in the OKC area. We will...
Read moreMy partner and I ate here, for the first time, for an early Valentine’s Day dinner and date night, which I did add to the reservation. The restaurant itself is big and laid out well, aesthetically pleasing and good lighting for the mood.
We were sat at a two top table that was so small and narrow, it didn’t have room for much and prevented us from sitting next to each other, which is simply a personal preference of mine.
I was craving a martini with blue cheese olives, but they don’t carry them. Again, personal preference however, for a high end restaurant, I was disappointed they didn’t carry them.
We ordered fried calamari for our appetizer and it was really delicious, tender and the breading was light and crispy. The dipping sauces were really good as well.
For our main course, we ordered a steak to share with the brussel sprouts and mac n cheese. They brought the food out on one cold plate, so I had to ask for a second one from the food runner. The steak was cooked well but could have used some finishing salt. The brussels were good and the Mac was good but both, to my palette, were a little under seasoned and the mac wasn’t as creamy/cheesy as I would have hoped.
I understand these are very minor things, but for the price point, I expected to be wowed and was left somewhat underwhelmed in that regard. There are some other restaurants around the same price point that I would likely choose over this for food quality and fine details.
The staff was great however. We were greeted immediately, our table was ready within 5 minutes, and we were asked by multiple people, including management, if everything was good. Our waitress was thorough, knowledgeable and efficient.
For the price, I would likely not have another date night here but may return to try out their brunch menu. It was overall a good experience and would recommend to anyone wanting to try...
Read moreMy husband and I made brunch reservations via Resy to celebrate our anniversary. The Neighborhood Provisions website states ‘local’, ‘seasonal’, ‘every item made-from-scratch’. When making the reservation, there was an area to tell them that we were celebrating an anniversary. (It set an expectation that something special might be done. I was thinking a special/pretty table setting or just that the server would acknowledge it).
The interior is very nice and we were seated in the sunset room (near the windows to the golf course). Our table had a dead air plant inside a dirty and dusty looking glass container. The tables around us all appeared to have the same. The dead dusty plant seems like a small thing, but it started to kill the fancy vibe right away.
More importantly, we didn’t think the food was anything special; certainly not as good as other ‘local’, ‘seasonal’, ‘scratch’ restaurants we’ve been to. The price point is high for what seemed like not really ‘scratch’ food. Gravy didn’t seem house made, the sausage patty was wet and seemed previously frozen, and there just wasn’t anything super delicious or elevated about our food experience. I left feeling disappointed.
The service was good. But we never did get any acknowledgement of our anniversary. (I had actually called to let them know we were running late, I was asked again if we were coming there to celebrate something)
Overall, if you live nearby and can afford $17-$21 breakfasts that are good but not great, then there’s nothing really wrong with this place.
If you’re looking to experience something unique and worthy of the money you’ll spend, than I’d explore...
