Overall, great restaurant. Steaks were mostly awesome. Atmosphere was nice. Server was for the most part, on point!
Pros: Asparagus soup was rich and tasty! Made me want to make it at home. Crab cakes were all crab. Yes!! And the sauce was wonderful.
The whiskey au pouvre sauce was wonderful. It saved the bland potatoes. While not worth the price tag, both of our steaks were among the best we'd had. They were cooked to our liking for medium rare. The seasoning was wonderful.
The service was decent! Mostly professional group of people. Cocktails were wonderful. Love that they used an islay scotch for the Smoked Manhattan.
Paintings were gorgeous. Comfortable seating.
Cons: Steak tasted a little grainy. While it had some of the best seasoning ever, and was cooked about how I like it, for $80 I'd hope for a texture and taste that exceeds most chain steakhouses. Another steak we ordered was on point. Since they were cooked well at least, we didn't send either back and enjoyed them.
A couple others noted - while the ambiance is great, depending on where you sit you kind of feel like you're dining "with" the table next to you. I enjoy chiming in sometimes when a server and adjacent table are having a good chat. But when it lasts for most of evening, not always the best. Refills and small things could've been a little better. On our part, we could have been more vocal about it.
Most disappointing: The sides. By far. I understand if mashed potatoes are served without the flair and flavor and seasonings. But, for $10 it didn't beat $4 potatoes. I understand you're paying essentially an environment fee, but we didn't get a lot of that to match. Brussel sprouts were not great (lukewarm, hard, bitter). But the cheese and other items with it were awesome. Full disclosure: we were asked about whether or not we digged the sprouts (at end of meal they noticed they weren't eaten). Mushrooms had a nice unique flavor, though, which I digged.
Overall, 3/4 of the food was great, and 4/4 of the food was, we felt, overpriced even considering the quality and classier environment. Were it not for a disappointing $80 steak and disappointment at $10/side coupled with a few other issues, I'd say a solid four. At a total of about $300, we shouldn't have to debate whether or not we'd return to have the same meal even if offered at half the cost. Would be happy to pay at least much for food, service and environment that matched.
Random last note: there was a gentleman, tall with no hair.. he was wonderful. Server was nice, but this gentleman would come randomly to our table and take care of little things, which...

Imagine stepping into a world where luxury dining meets the twilight zone of culinary mishaps — where the promise of an exquisite A5 Wagyu experience transforms into a regrettable journey of taste and service. This was not just another meal out but an expedition into disappointment, an adventure in the land of underwhelming that cost us over $500 for two. Welcome to my worst dining experience ever at The Ranch in Oklahoma City.
Our high hopes were pinned on the A5 Wagyu, a whopping $240 appetizer, totaling six ounces of what should have been marbled perfection. Instead, it emerged as a testament to neglect, boasting a funky taste indicative of vacuum-sealed despair. This wasn’t the melt-in-your-mouth experience we paid for but rather a dive into a culinary abyss — a stark warning that not all that glitters is gold, even if it comes from Japan.
The saga of sorrow didn’t end there. My companion’s ambitious choice of the largest ribeye on the menu ended in a dramatic send-back due to undercooking, while I, in an attempt to dodge the bullet of beef, opted for the lobster. What arrived was far from the luxury crustacean feast one might expect! Instead, it was a chapter of disappointment in an already tragic culinary narrative.
To drown our sorrows, I ordered three Grey Goose vodka cranberry doubles, each at a price point of $20, expecting at least the solace of a buzz. Yet, even this was denied. The drinks were so devoid of alcohol, I’m convinced the vodka was replaced with water.
Audit your bottles of Grey Goose and test for water, The Ranch! Someone there is skimming. Over $60 spent on cocktails, yet not a hint of inebriation.
Despite the staff’s politeness, their response to our dissatisfaction was underwhelming. Apologies were offered, yet no refund or gesture befitting the gravity of our letdown was extended. A replacement steak was the lone olive branch in a desert of culinary despair.
In the end, the ordeal cost us over $500 for an experience that was supposed to be memorable for its luxury but will be remembered for its spectacular failure. The Ranch, with its promise of high-end dining, delivered an unforgettable night for all the wrong reasons. I share this tale not out of spite, but as a cautionary whisper to those who seek culinary excellence: sometimes, the quest for the best leads to the worst. I will not be returning to The Ranch.

Read moreThe Ranch was AMAZING. I would recommend it for a special occasion, as it is quite pricy for the average Joe, especially if you’re wanting to do drinks, apps, dessert, etc.
The service was great; our server had been there for 10 years and was very attentive and patient with us while we perused the drink and food menu. They have a valet service which is nice. While some people say it’s cramped, I quite liked the vibe. It was cozy, good lighting, and not overly loud but lively.
To the food: They give you big fat delicious yeasty rolls, which were great. We started with escargot which was pretty average. I would eat it but probably wouldn’t order it again. Next up was a wedge salad which my fiancé and I split. It was good! Not spectacular but I would order it again. For the entree, I ordered a 6oz filet mignon with seared foie gras, and he got a ribeye with truffle butter, both cooked medium rare. Let me tell you, these steaks were incredible. We are big on cooking steaks at home, dry age, all that fancy stuff so I get picky about having steaks out. I couldn’t get over how good this was. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. So wonderful. Same with the foie gras. It could have been a little more seared for my taste, but the flavour was great. His steak was just as good, and the truffle butter was the cherry on top. For the sides, we decided to do the “sampler” which let’s you sample three sides for the price of two full sides. Man, the “sample” sizes were still HUGE. We got Mac n cheese, au gratin potatoes, and the bleu cheese and bacon Brussel sprouts. Neither of us are big on brussel sprouts, but the server recommended them so we tried them. Apparently they’re quite popular but I was 50/50 on them (this is also because I’m not a fan of them in general, so try them!). The other two sides were great. Super cheesy, cooked well. We paired a bottle of cab sauv with it and it was wonderful. To top it off we ordered creme brûlée for dessert, which was fine. You could tell it wasn’t made with real vanilla bean so it was missing that extra -touch- that makes creme brûlée...creme brûlée. It was still good, just not great.
Overall, I would 100% recommend coming here. I had a great evening and will...
