Chang's Wok — Restaurant in Olathe

We’ve eaten here for years. Original owner and wife were genius at cooking and mixing flavorful sauces. Portions were always plentiful. Service was great and they knew us by voice. Then they sold to new owners. Portions vary. Sauces in dishes have lost that Smokey and savory flavor once so delicious. Sometimes I wonder what I’m eating. Hot to them is mild even if you say extra hot. Quality used to be a 20/10. Now it’s a 2 out of 10 most times. Every now and then flavor shows. I suspect old sauce recipes have been cheapened and changed for the worse. This used to be a weekly buy. Now we try other places looking for something better. I wish the original owners were back. They knew how to feed a person.

Update. 6/26/2020. used to love this place. It was a weekly choice. Now, I almost cringe. The food has gone south. Doesn’t seem to matter what you order, it all tastes dark, thick, salty and no real flavor. Cashew chicken used to have a great flavor. Spicy pork had an excellent taste with a smoky hint. General Tso was spicy, sweet and sour. The pork version was just as delicious. Now, you can’t even begin to tell if you ordered the correct dish. Ask for extra spicy, don’t have a clue.

The wife of the original owner only made the sauces. I guess these new owners didn’t get them and concocted one horrible sauce for all.

People who say their Phad Thai is excellent, apparently have never had good authentic Phad Thai. It’s terrible. Bland. No flavor. Pale with no color or any Thai spices resembling real Thai food. Do yourself a favor, go get real Phad Thai so you know what is. This is noodles with chicken.

Always had a good experience for many years til last night. With social distancing it's totally professional and polite that they ring the doorbell and have it hanging on the door knob and leave once they see when got it, which they did last time. Well not last night. After waiting for over an hour I thought I check the front door and call. And sure enough there's are cold food sitting on ground outside our front door. I called immediately to express my grievance with this, and all I got was a "sorry, I'll make note of it" as I was rushed off the phone. I know Chang cares about customers and I even use to work with him back in the day in restaurant I know he knows the importance of keeping loyal customers happy. This was completely unprofessional and not acceptable. And I will wait to order after covid has passed to prevent this again. He hasn't lost my business, but this would of been way worse for anyone with a bad temper. Oh also I ordered extra beef on my Mongolian and I got less than normal portion and a TON! of mushrooms. Idk what's going on but I hope it's resolved soon. They do make great food and usually provide...

I've been meaning to leave a review about this place but given what happened with this order I need to leave one. So we got our usual and I'm not sure what happened but our order for delivery wasn't here. So I called to check the status and they said they delivered it but nothing outside. They said they would make another order but instead of them delivering it I just went ahead and picked it up. They were so nice and apologized for the mixup...I get back home and the food was at the right building but the wrong apartment and since it was at night I didn't see it as I was hastily driving to them to make sure I got to them before they closed so I apologized repeatedly because if I would've just stopped and looked i would've seen it at the other door lol. This place is awesome, the staff was really nice and their food is ALWAYS good! I definitely recommend this place, we are repeat customers and will keep ordering from here!
