I’m pretty lenient on restaurants because I know what the staff deals with… but this experience was absolutely miserable. This location needs to streamline processes or hire more staff… something. We were seated after a 25 min wait (despite checking in and being told it would be 10 mins on the website). I truly would’ve been fine with this if the other problems weren’t present because it tacked on more wasted time spent here.
We waited a further 10 minutes and not one single waiter stopped at our table to ask what beverages we’d like. Again, I understand the place is slammed but I was always taught that if you see a table without drinks and the customers are looking around, you grab them and let their assigned server know. Or at least let the table know that you’re aware of their presence and you’ll be right back. I had to go up to the front and get a server to take our order, so who knows how much longer we would’ve waited while being passed by countless severs. I want to reiterate that I am sympathetic to the place being busy, however some iota of effort would’ve gone a long way. I’m happy to wait; I am not happy with being ignored. Multiple servers made eye contact with me and kept walking. This is a training discrepancy.
A further 55 minutes went by and we weren’t even checked on once for refills. Still hadn’t been greeted by whoever our waiter was supposed to be. At this point the kids are starting to cry because they’re hungry and thirsty (we didn’t have any water at the table and they finished their shared juice awhile ago), and I’m contemplating just walking out. Finally, their food arrives and it’s cold! Really? Almost an hour wait just to get cold food? Also, no syrup came out with their waffles but how was I supposed to ask for some when no server stopped at our table afterward?!
Then I waited another 9 minutes for my food. By then the kids were done and getting antsy so I had to quickly eat my food so we could finally get out of there.
Isn’t there supposed to be a manager walking around to see how everyone is doing? I didn’t see one. The servers all looked miserable because they’re run so ragged. None of them looked like they wanted to be there and it showed in their abysmal hospitality. I love First Watch but this experience tarnished my preference… I’d get better service at Waffle House. We definitely will not be back.
On a positive note, the host (the gentleman with the greyish hair) was so accommodating and understanding. He did a wonderful job getting customers checked, seated, and keeping the...
Read moreAlways excellent service here and amazingly wonderful food! We come here fairly often for breakfast, even if it's in the afternoon. Our server today was Elizabeth, and she is excellent at her job. She was also the first person at First Watch in Olathe that we met and had serve us during the Friends and Family pre-opening. She's always right there when you need her with a smile and attentive service! Today I had the Croque Madame with a sunny side up egg. And, I rarely drink this early in the day (1:30pm, but it's always 5:00 somewhere!), but decided to have their Vodka Kale Tonic, and it was delicious also. I am not a kale fan at all, but the way this is made with lemon, English cucumber, and Fuji Apple actually makes the earthy taste of kale taste pretty darned good! It was not strong at all, and my wife, who also dislikes kale and especially strong liquor drinks, tried it and was pleasantly surprised at how good it tasted! I loved the fresh and buttery taste of the toast of the Croque Madame and the egg was cooked to perfection. Runny yolk and firm white. Bacon lightly crisp and the parmesan cream sauce around the egg just made the flavors meld so well! And the tomato slice inside was fresh, thick, and perfectly ripe and also went so well with everything else. My wife had the seasonal pumpkin pancake and loved it also. That time of year for pumpkin everything. This was definitely another 5 star meal and service from beginning to end from one of our very favorite breakfast places! Previous: Always delicious, and excellent service, every time we've been here. This time we placed a to go order right after leaving a doctor appointment. We had our food in 10 minutes and it was...
Read moreToday, the boyfriend checked us in online, and a text at 11:41 stated the wait was 30 to 45 minutes. We arrived around noon knowing there would still be a wait, and we were seated at 12:20. Our server was efficient and fast. However, when our food finally arrived, it was almost 1:00. The eggs on my benedict were hard boiled instead of runny, clearly poached too long. Boyfriend's eggs were very underdone. He had to get up from the table to flag down our very busy server. She severely apologized, and took my plate back to the kitchen. By now his pancake was cold and they didn't take his plate back to the kitchen. He didn't want to cause any more issues so he just ate his sausage and declined to try and flag her down again. By 1:10, I received plate #2 of eggs Benedict, still poached way too long. Server checked in, and was disappointed that the same problem was delivered to me. She offered a different dish, but I told her we had been there for an hour and a half and I would just eat what was given to me because I was hungry. She apologized again, said she would get a manager. Manager never came to the table, but server said they would comp both our meals.
Truly disappointing. We used to visit this location all the time, but today there were just too many issues and we spent so much time here that I don't think we...
