Sweet Thang & Cafe — Restaurant in Olathe

WOW! BEST ICE CREAM I HAVE EVER HAD! Not too hard, not too soft and flavors are awesome. I had the Turtle Sundae with both vanilla and chocolate ice creams. SINFULLY DELICIOUS! Staff was INCREDIBLY efficient and fast handling a line with about 25 people. Wait to order was about 5 minutes. Ice Cream is HOMEMADE daily! I really gotta a kick outta the SUPERMAN flavor… looked like the superhero had crash-splattered into planet Krypton. Yellows, Reds, Blues… it looked delicious! Wife had Mint Chip Waffle Cone. LOVED IT. They also have sandwiches also, though we did not have any food so I can’t comment on that. Oh yes, and a PARTY ROOM if ya feel like having a ICE CREAM BASH… please invite me! I WILL BE BACK!

UPDATE!!! May 9th, 2023 We went back! This time I had a Chocolate Malt with EXTRA malt powder!!! UmmmmBabyUmmmmm! Rest of the group leaned heavily towards the Mint Chip on a cone!

NO COMPLAINTS!!! Service is EXCELLENT and FREEKY FAST! Heck, grabba Pup Cup for your dawg too! He’ll love you even MORE if you do!

Y’all! Can we PLEASE just keep my reviews between you and me?!? I don’t want EVERYONE heading up there all the time taking up space in line and bottoming out tubs of all my favorite flavors and dishes! That would BUM me out… and I get HANGRY when my sugar level drops! You wouldn’t like me when I’m HANGRY!

Did I mention they use REAL FRESH FRUIT in their ice cream? I guess they don’t know they can save $$$ by just squirtin’ some chemically- tasting, lab created, fructose syrup into the batch like every other company does! SHHHHHhhhh, don’t tell them that though! Let them keep adding the fresh fruit…...

My wife, daughters and grandchildren have recently been recommending Sweet Thang & Cafe to me with rave reviews. I was out of town when they discovered this recently opened restaurant in Olathe. Yesterday evening, my wife, a daughter and a granddaughter talked me into giving it a try. I am glad I took their recommendation.

I ordered the Mama’s Big Italian sandwich, my wife and daughter had the Turkey and Cheese. My granddaughter had the Ham and Cheese. All of the sandwiches were excellent and my 3 year old granddaughter ate all of her sandwich which is a rarity. The sandwiches were accompanied by chips and a pickle.

We had ice cream for dessert which was also delicious and of high quality. I was very surprised at the generous serving. I ordered a single Chocolate and Peanut Butter and the serving was the size of a large double dip! Sweet Thang has a huge selection of ice cream and were very generous in offering tastes of the different varieties.The entire staff is very friendly and courteous and very helpful. In addition, both the Cafe and the restrooms were clean.

We also had the pleasure of meeting the owners. They are not only very friendly with pleasant personalities but they clearly have strong work ethics and make providing excellent service and quality meals their highest priority. We have been loyal customers since Sweet Thang opened and always had great service. Until tonight. My husband and I bring our dog, who looks forward to it, and one of us goes inside and gets the ice cream and her a little pup cup and we set on the tailgate of our truck and the three of us eat our treats. Tonight I was helped by someone I didn’t recognize and when I ordered our ice cream cones she did nothing but complain about how bad she hates dipping ice cream the entire time she made them and only gave us a dinky amount of ice cream on our cones. I also told her we needed a cup with some whipped cream for our pup. She quickly told me they no longer do that. I offered to pay but she still hatefully declined. When I told her that she made what is usually a fun outing for us miserable and that we would never be back she just said okay. Had I not already paid the $10 for our dinky cones I would have left them there and walked out. We try to patronize the small businesses in the area but we will no longer be back to this establishment and we will also let others know...
