*10/9/24 edit - I think our legacy here is officially done. Everything has kept going down hill here for the past year. We are so sad, Mi Ranchito has been a staple of our identity for countless years - all of our friends and neighbors and coworkers know they can always find us here. But our past few experiences have just been so terrible and even embarrassing, we can’t bring ourselves to come anymore. We ask staff for stuff several times, with nothing ever happening (asking for limes, more salsa, changing tv from a political rally to a sports game). We brought a large work group here last week and all my coworkers kept asking why we ever come here because the service was so terrible. Tonight, our server sat in the booth across from us with his friends. He got half our order completely wrong, didn’t bring stuff we asked for, and made us wait several times while he sat and joked with his buddies. At one point we got fed up and walked past him to the bar to get what we needed. The manager even stopped and talked with them for a while too, without anyone noticing our credit card had been sitting on the bill for 10+ minutes. We miss the old staff that had been at this location for the past few years, the rotating new people every single week aren’t keeping this business afloat and are hurting the relationships with near religiously-dedicated customers.
We have been coming here 1-2 times a week for the past 5+ years. We only allocate enough money to eat out once a week and we choose Mi Ranchito religiously, specifically this location. Over the years, our favorite employees have all left. It’s gotten to the point now that we don’t recognize any faces when we go in there every week because the staff is changing so frequently. It’s sad to go to a place so often and feel like strangers. We visited late Thursday night and had a new waiter. He took our drink order as we were walking to the table, we felt very rushed. When he took our food order he didn’t write it down, and he had forgotten it before we finished going around the table so we had to reorder everything and we still weren’t confident he had it right. Eventually we got 1/2 of our order but it came to us in opened to-go boxes? He blamed the kitchen for being low on plates, even though other tables had plates and our queso came on a plate. Receiving a platter of steak fajitas in a styrofoam box instead of sizzling and smoking on a hot platter is so incredibly disappointing. We waited another 10 minutes and the rest of our food never came and our server was no where to be seen. He finally came by and asked how things were, so we reminded him we ordered more than just the fajitas. He blamed the kitchen for only having one cook and said it would take just 5 more minutes because it was on the line. 20 minutes later, we told him to just put it straight in a to-go box because it was closing time and we wanted to leave. Now that we are home we looked in the box - nothing we specified on our order had happened. there were no black beans and they didn’t hold the guac, so we can’t eat it now. We order this every single week. It’s clear he didn’t write down our order and forgot to place it with the kitchen. We are just so disappointed week after week but don’t want to stop visiting our favorite restaurant...
Read moreI’m only giving one star so that I can leave this review. I would be leaving zero stars. Over the last few years I have dined at this restaurant about once a week. Over the last couple months this restaurant has gone down hill. Our last three visits have all had problems. Tonight being the worst. I found trash in my food. A large pice of a plastic bag was in my food. No one apologized!!!! They did offer to remake it. I said no. They still sent the bill for the food to me. I had to firmly inform them I would not be paying for that item. Now that the worst and grossest part of the evening is dealt with. The other issues were. Appetizers arrived after meals. Had to ask multiple times to get drinks refills that weren’t getting taken care of. When finally about 10 minutes after the most recent request was made only one persons drink was refilled. Asked multiple times to speak to a manager and to be provided the name of the store manager and corporate. The manager refused to come speak with us.
Okay this visit has been covered. Visit last week. I’m a vegetarian. I was served an item with meat in it because the server ordered it wrong. I noticed the issue before biting into it and my food was remade. Again no apology and I was eating after the rest of my party had already finished.
The visit before that. Three weeks ago one of the children at our table was saying her meal tasted wrong. She then found something resembling a bay leaf in her macaroni. The manager on duty came over and said it looked like the top of the mushrooms they use that are typically discarded. Again no apology only an offer to remake. The child chose a different item. This means trash was in someone’s food twice in three weeks time. I also want to mention this was the same manager on duty this evening. (The one where I found plastic trash in my food)
I’m equal parts frustrated, disappointed, and annoyed by these experiences. Mi Ranchito had been our go to restaurant. We dinned there at least once a week. Now I feel I’m forced to find...
Read moreSo, after going to Mi Ranchito roughly twice a week, normally for lunch, we decided to do dinner at the restaurant. Initially the staff was friendly, the seats and table were clean. Ordered our drinks and an appetizer. I asked for a 20 oz draft beer, was served a 16 oz plastic cup and was told it was a 20oz. Our appetizer arrived, and appetizer plates were placed at the table but no utensils. Our utensils were finally brought and to our dismay, were dirty, with stuck on food. Upon further inspection, 3 of the five plates also had dried food on them. The staff did replace the our utensils but not the plates. We ordered and received our main dishes but one plate, the Friday special, had both shrimp shells, and crab shells in it. We called the waiter who promptly took the dish and offered a replacement. The manager came over and asked what had happened. Upon being told there were shells in the food, he argued that it wasn't possible. We showed the shells to him and he still disagreed. Upon receipt of the check, they charged for the plate, of which only two bites had been eaten. We expressed our concerns over the dirty plates, utensils, the shells and the argumentative manager who told us that we were wrong and that we shouldn't tell him he was wrong. The manager further disliked being told he was wrong and told us to never come back to the restaurant. A female manager did eventually intervene and did apologize for the event to wish I replied, "after coming to the restaurant on average twice a week, per the other manager, we would not be returning, they've lost us...
