Panda House — Restaurant in Old Bridge

I hardly ever write reviews these days, but as I sit here at 4am stuck to the toilet, I feel compelled to try and save my fellow neighbor from such agony. Looking through these reviews, I don't understand how this place is rated as high as it is.

Let's start with the food. We ordered the hibachi chicken bento, sesame chicken, shrimp egg foo young, steamed pork dumplings, chicken fried rice, chicken lo mein and egg rolls. Of these I ate the hibachi chicken, one piece of the California roll that came with the bento, one dumpling and a few pieces of sesame chicken. The hibachi chicken was not good. It was dry and tasteless. The sesame chicken was decent, run of the mill, but the best thing we ordered unfortunately. California roll seemed like it was pre made a while ago .. also tasteless. And the dumpling was decent, I actually like that they use a thinner dough on their dumplings. Family said the egg foo young was dry and the sauce seemed off.

The real tragedy of this meal was the chicken fried rice and chicken lo mein surprisingly. The chicken fried rice looked exactly like the chicken fried rice you get frozen from Wegmans. It was absolutely tasteless with wierd super white, super rectangular, pieces of chicken. Nothing in the chicken fried rice was fried at all. It was honestly shocking how bad this rice was .. in a Chinese restaurant. The lo mein was just noodles and chicken, also not fried like it should be, with sauce that tasted like it did not go with the noodles at all.

All in all, after we had eaten dinner, we decided that this would not be a place we would order from again. I'm not sure if this is supposed to be a Chinese or Japanese restaurant, but for either it was terrible. Go to King Wok if you want great Chinese food.

For reference, I take a weight loss medication and normally only eat one meal a day - this was it. I have been on this medication for over five months now and have had zero GI side effects. I went to sleep last night none the wiser that I would soon be woken up with excruciating stomach cramps that would have me sat in the bathroom for the rest of the night. I haven't been able to stray far from the bathroom because as soon as I do I have to run back. I have been able to get exactly zero relief from this suffering for the past four hours now and I don't see an end in sight.

Update: 3 out of 5 family members are having the same symptoms. Thank goodness we have 3 bathrooms.

TLDR; Awful food that lead to...

The delivery driver kept demanding a tip even though we put tip for the driver when we ordered. The driver also tried to come into the house and was being aggressive about not having a tip even though we left a tip and was reluctant to give us our food. The driver got scared of our dog and backed away. The driver then proceeded to stay in our driveway for a few minutes. It was very inappropriate and not a safe situation. Meanwhile I had children at the house. We called the restaurant about the situation and they hung up on us and told us they must of forgotten to add the tip. The tip was on a separate receipt. I guess because their address changed and they moved from one suite in this shopping center to another, their previous rating and reviews got removed. This is a consistent, clean, and decent place to eat. It's certainly not the best, but it is far from the worst. The most important thing for me is that they're consistently respectable and enjoyable; I've never been disappointed. Their sushi is decent, their American Chinese Food staples are tasty, their Teriyaki sauce is delicious, and their Chow Mei Fun is my favorite.
