Duby's Bagels & Bakery — Restaurant in Old Saybrook

You can see how I have never left a review anywhere else but feel so inclined to rave about Duby’s Bagels & Bakery!! The customer service makes me feel like I’m talking to family - they remember things about you and are more than just a business. I went day one when there was an exciting long line and everyone who waited with me agreed it was WORTH THE WAIT !! So worth it that I went back the next day. These days I am in and out within 5 minutes with a bakers dozen of the BEST bagels, a delicious bacon bagel sandwich, a dessert that I can’t resist (the cookies are to die for and the brownie is my weak spot), and a big smile on my face! Look no further for a bagel/breakfast stop if you want something quick, uniquely delicious with a lot of heart and soul poured in. I’m a local and plan to make this my go to spot. After trying, and failing, several times to get some bagels since opening day, today we finally managed it. & Holy smokes- what a bagel! I have been a loyalist to another long standing bagel shop on route one, but after just one everything bagel here I am fully converted. Dare I say, Duby’s has the best bagel I have had in CT. These have a crisp shell, a very airy center that has the perfect hint of saltiness and slight chew. They are by no means a uniform bagel, and that is fine because the flavor is undeniable. Now that I will fully be dreaming of this bagel, I will cross my fingers every-time I leave the house with hopes to get another as they do sell out and close once there are no more. Brava y’all! I'll assume that collectively as residents of Old Saybrook we did some seriously good deeds because to have Duby's right here in our town is such a gift. Duby himself has a serious talent for baking and it's wonderful he shares it here. Plus he and and his team are great people who are happy to serve you. Walk in the door and you're taken to a real NYC bagelry. Bagels soft on the inside with that perfect crust on the outside, real bialys, and a great selection of high quality smoked fish as some of my favorite menu items.
