This is the real deal, I have never had such a tasty falafel! The hubbs and I came here with a friend who was visiting from out of town and wanted something up this alley for flavors that night and we were pleasantly surprised to find this little gem! We sat town and a young girl who seemed to be new to serving said we could order up at the counter or just here at the table, since we were already seated, we opted to hunt thru the menu here in our seats, and order at the table. We ordered some lemonades (they were ok, didn't see that Hibiscus tea was offered on the menu, but glanced at it in one of those dispensers on the way back from the bathroom after-the-fact) & a Lebanese beer, which tasted something like a Caribbean beer like a Corona, in a way . We got the hummus appetizer to start, and although it was blended beautifully and tastey, we couldn't help but feel it was missing some spices or sections of flavorings that would have made it absolute perfection. The pita that it was served with was a bit rough to break apart/tear with your teeth, but it was still good. The boys both ordered the veggie platter meal, one with a side of chicken and garlic paste (super garlicy!!). I ordered the Fattoush salad in a large and holy moleys, I absolutely would have been fine with a fraction of a small, to be honest. It was very tastey though, it had some kind of vinagarette/oily dressing, that was a bit too saturated for my liking, but still good and full of veggies. This salad was what the young waitress recommended since I was cluelessly indecisive on what to order, and she said it's what she tells everyone who comes in to get if they ask. They use toasted and seasoned pita chunks as their version of "crutons", which were a pretty yummy addition to the veggie-packed salad. There were copious amounts of fresh tomato, cucumber, celery, onion, radishes and possibly more on a bed of mixed greens I believe. The real star of the show for me was the falafels, the spices were so much better than any combination I had tried anywhere, even beating out our old favorite place back in Chicago. I would come back just for the falafels, with hummus, which now I recall seeing as a separate dish with the previously mentioned vegetables, minus the lettuce, I am salivating at the thought. I think you also can get a meal with the falafels in a wrap, possibly, but do not quote me on that. It all sounds amazing, and was quite perfect for us for dinner, that's what dinner should be, light, vegetables, packed with nutrition. The veggie dinner platters looked good too, as you can see in many of the photos, and I know the boys quite enjoyed their meals! We definitely will be back, I have my eye set on trying the baklava, and many more falafel dishes! Fresh Bites is indeed FRESH and quite...
Read moreJust another browse in Tampa on my search for good food. Really wanted to find a diamond in the rough place for middle eastern/ Mediterranean food. Stumbled upon fresh bites today since it was a little early I waited an hour till they opened. My first impressions were "couldn't believe there is this type of food in an area full of Starbucks and well... Restaurants lacking ethnicity and culture". So when I found it I presumed it was one of a kind for its area. I walked in and it was a cozy atmosphere and the staff were somewhat welcoming. I ordered the shwarma plate To go, returned to my vehicle because I just couldn't wait to see what I had to look forward to. Unfortunately it was not at all what I was anticipating. The portioning was abysmal to say the least. Not to mention I was given an order that I didn't order but was half the price of the order that I paid for. The salad was ok. The dressing. Well lacked flavor . The hummus was said to be made from scratch but I'm not too sure about that. But most of all was the main part. The shwarma. Very dull and discreet flavor. But what worries me is the meat itself... I really don't think it is halal or to kosher standerds either. Can't say I will ever return or recommend anyone looking for authenticity. But understandably the demographic of people in this area don't really know real middle eastern/ Mediterranean...
Read moreI’ve searched far and wide for restaurants like this, and let me tell you, they’re a rare find. There’s nothing quite like family home-cooked food—it’s packed with love, and you can taste it in every bite. But what truly sets this place apart is the quality of the ingredients and the incredible flavors. This is how food should always be.
I actually discovered them through ChatGPT while searching for restaurants that don’t use seed oils, and I was blown away to learn that even their falafel is cooked in coconut oil! As a vegan, I was thrilled by their wide array of vegan options, but I can only imagine how amazing the meat dishes must be. The flavors here are so unique—this isn’t your average Mediterranean or Greek restaurant. They have the classics you’d expect, but the spices and overall flavor profiles are on another level.
If you’re vegan, I highly recommend getting the vegan platter with extra falafel, and maybe an additional side of hummus if you’re feeling extra hungry or want leftovers. The total cost is around $27, which gets you a generous portion—more than enough for the average person. As a young, active guy, it’s just the right amount for me, but for someone with a smaller appetite, like a petite woman, a smaller plate would be more than sufficient. Don’t miss out on this gem—it’s...
