JGoody Cafe Bakery — Restaurant in Oldsmar

Jose greeted us and sat us at one of the empty tables. He brought us our drinks, and told us a server would be over to take our orders. We waited, watching 3 people busily working behind the counter, checking out customers & getting bakery items to go. Two people came in after us, were seated at a booth, and a young man, Carlos, came over to them with drinks and to take their orders. We would have left at this point, but Melissa was asking the table next to us if all was okay. It was, so we asked her if she was our waitress. Since she said she was, she took our orders.

We aren't usually impatient people. But it was a little after 1PM on a Wednesday (9/7/22), and we sat down at 12:45. Five tables were occupied when we sat down and 3 leaving at once caused the delay, We were hungry and anticipated a good lunch - the reviews are so good so far! We found out later that the other person was out today. Melissa would have been by herself if the owners had not been helping her.

After we ordered, one of the owners came over to ask if all was good. She was very sweet and said she'd be back after we had eaten. She wanted to be sure we were satisfied! We told her it was the online reviews that prompted us to come here. She said that they are so appreciative of their customers and the positive word of mouth.

This place is bright and clean. There are 11 tables for four people at each, and 3 booths. The fresh carnations at each table are a nice touch. Bakery items are in 5 well lit cases by the cash register. A flat screen TV is behind the bakery items and cash register, tuned to Bay News 9. Beware of the alligator bread roll in the counter!

The side salad was fresh and delicious. I liked the honey mustard on the side. Not sure if they made it or if it was from a bottle. My quesadilla came out quickly, as did husband’s cheddar burger and fries. We both enjoyed our entrées. Both were very tasty and filling. The food was so good and it was definitely worth the wait!! Husbabd said he would return just for the burger. It was THAT good!!

We did not take home any of the delectable bakery items or the chocolates that tempted us. We were full! But we have several reasons to return - to try breakfast here, as well as other lunch items, and the bakery items. We’ll also return for the accommodating, pleasant owners...

Gave this place a few times now. Always happy to go to local restaurants. Menu is basic Americana vibes. Breakfast is good and what would be expected. Breakfast potatoes are white slices and pan fried, but left underwhelmed as they feel more like a dinner side and not breakfast side. Tried the grits the last time and was extremely disappointed. Grits were milky and tasted like sour cream, and cold. When we mentioned to waitress she said they use milk. After asking for just normal grits, which came quick and was at least hot and somewhat normal but not up to southern standards. Manager or owner came by the table to ask how everything was. When we asked how grits were made we were told they use milk. When we said they tasted sour we were told everyone else likes them. Well, not the answer I would expect if we didn’t like them and no apology. Was hoping they would add more than the only 3 booths as the table and chairs are randomly arranged and seats without cushions so a little uncomfortable. Staff smile and are nice. They do charge you to use a debit or credit card over cash, so bring some cash. Wishing them the best and hope to see them bring something that puts...

Today on my way to work I decided to try and find a place to grab some breakfast and a juice. I just so happen to Google the word “cafe” in the area and this super cute cafe & bakery happen to pop up. So I go in, it’s super quiet. I got worried cus I thought maybe I just walked in and they weren’t open yet.. but then this super nice lady came out in less than a minute of me walking in and she was so sweet and she greeted me so kindly. I wish I got her name she was amazing. She took my order and was super quick and friendly and after I finished ordering we talking and she was absolutely a delight to speak to. She told me this place just opened this month I was like no way!! I was actually shocked cus the food is amazing and the place was so clean and had a very nice ambiance to it.
