these days they are advertising a lot. May be to get more business.
Recently there was promotion on Groupon pay $10 for 2 person and pay $20.00 for 4 person. Me and my sisters family decided to go there. I called Desi Tadka before buying - asking how it would work? The person who answered phone said.. you add anything from menu and if it is more...... then you pay the difference. I also asked... is there any restriction? whether you can not use for buffet or so.. and again guy who answered phone, said no.. there is no restriction.
so we decided to go there Sunday 6/30/13. unfortunately my sister had to go for work so she could not make it but I promised that I will get food for her
so before going , I called again to ask whether they are open and whether they honor groupon coupon. He said yes.
when we reached there. there was sign, help wanted..so we expected delay.
like other reviewer said, it took long time for them to come to our table when I showed coupon he (I think he was owner himself, as there was no waiter/server uniform) said this is for four people and you are only two.. I said my sister could not make it but we will order for her and take it home. the owner/waiter was so reluctant to even glance at us after seeing groupon.. forget customer service of greeting, offering water, or asking for order of drink ( as we were waiting there for almost 10 minutes. My Husband is diabetic and had already taken insulin, and we needed food or something immediately.
Owner/waiter, kept on arguing about groupon and 4 person. Anyways finally I said, if you do not want to honor this, then I will complain. I MAY get my money back.. but I am going to let this be known, that your service, approach and way of talking to customer is extremely POOR. I had called you before buying this Groupon.. He said well it was someone else. I had never talked to him in past. so ..... (Rudely) The owner/waiter said.. go ahead do it..
How bad this is!!!!!!!!. you want business, you want customer. then be polite.. listen to what customers are saying instead of .... anyways. NO WHERE IT WAS MENTIONED THAT YOU HAVE TO HAVE 4 PERSONS PRESENT TO USE...
Read moreWe 4 of colleagues have decided to go out for lunch and also want to be nearby to our office. After review we decided to go 'Desi Tadka', I got bit hesitation, because I have been to this place before (say 9 to 10 months before), at that time they call it as '5th Element' and that time the food was awful, and I decided to not go afterwards. But, recently seems the management was changed they named it as 'Desi Tadka' and see some positive reviews. So, my colleagues have convinced me to give a try. When we get in, no one was greeted us (there were 2 staff), and even not looked us. We selected a table by ourself, even after few minutes of settle down, no one came to our table. Even, We have asked one of the staff to pour water for all of us, by asking so, he did it. I was remember in my earlier visit to this place, they gave complimentary dosa (mini) for each plates. So, I asked them do they have any complimentary like that, for which the answer was 'No'. That's fine, then we went to buffet and only item I see bit okay was the 'Naan' and 'potato & peas' curry. Rest all the stuffs are tasteless. I tried all non-veg and veg items, most of them tasteless, could have made better. Even desert (mango pastry) was too sweet, couldn't take more than 3 or 4 spoons.
Overall I will say, food is fair, which was better then earlier attempt and staff service was poor, you wont get anything if you dont ask it, even to...
Read moreFirst things first , the food is really good. The portions are smaller than other Indian restaurants and the price is high. Of the 4 orders we got they ranged from 18 to 24 dollars each and it comes in a small metal bowl that holds about 12 to 14 ounces , mine had about 6 or 7 chunks of chicken about 1 to 1.25 inches cube and the rest was sauce and it was $18 . The real disappointment was that they only brought out 2 bowls of rice for the 4 entree orders and they were not big bowls so they got eaten up quickly and I asked for another bowl of rice which she promptly brought out but it was an even smaller bowl and they put a charge of $3.50 on the bill. This is insulting as every other Indian restaurant I've been to has always brought out a bowl for each entree and if you needed more they would bring it out free of charge even offering if you wanted more for your take- out box . So the fact that they already charged way too much for the small portions and then had the audacity to charge $3.50 for a tiny bowl of rice when they made us share 2 bowls for the 4 entrees kind of soured the experience. It may be really good but paying over $1.50 per ounce of mostly sauce then getting insulting additional charges is unacceptable hospitality. It's kind of warm in there too so you'll sweat when you eat. Just beware of the money grubbing but the food is...
