I'm not sure where to begin. What a fantastic place! The waitstaff was amazing. We had our young child with us, and while we were doing our darndest to entertain him before we received our food, he was still fussy. However, the staff brought over a book and some crackers to hold him over without any prompting from us, which was so kind. They were intuitive and friendly.
For drinks we had the two IPAs, as well as a couple glasses of wine - all wonderful. They do not currently have a full bar as of my writing, but they are working on it and hope to have it within the next couple weeks.
Play with the coasters!
We both opted for their drive in burger, which was exactly the burger my mouth needed. It was cooked medium, which is how I always order my burgers anyway, but a heads up to anyone who prefers their burgers cooked well. My husband had the mustard for his tots, and I had the pineapple habanero sauce for mine. The mustard was lovely (well, the one taste he let me have ha!) and the pineapple habanero sauce was nice. It was sweet with the habanero flavor, and some heat if you ate a few fries in rapid succession. The heat fiend in me wishes there had been more bite, but it was nice to taste the pepper without feeling it as much.
We were in later on a weeknight. It was busy and not the quietest place, but I was able to easily have a conversation with my husband, as well as the great people in the booth behind us - not in a sarcastic "they were obnoxiously loud" way, I seriously mean we made friends and were able to converse across our tables easily.
This was such a great blend of the excellent food I always hope for when I go out, mixed with the friendly neighborhood brewery vibe and the trendy feel of upscale places in the bigger cities. Definitely give it a go. I'll for...
Read moreI’ve never left a review before, but let me tell you about this place. I have some dietary restrictions which makes it extremely hard to go out to eat ( I rarely EVER go out to eat because of it )… and I have experience in high end restaurants previously as a cook and customer service.
When we came in we went and sat at the bar and I very clearly know my diet but some drinks I have to double check, and she just HAD to let me know beer has carbs as if I just started going out to bars. It came off rude. Then told me that the alcoholic drink in the seltzer section of the menu wasn’t a seltzer and a soda.
Then I had to order food, which I followed my restrictions like I said it’s hard enough to try and order food and I hate being that person as it is. As someone who’s worked in the kitchen, when she took the ticket to the cooks they started shaking their heads. Whether it was because of me or not my order was not complicated, a LETTUCE WRAPPED BURGER. And Brussel sprouts. I don’t know if that’s complicated or what but don’t be a cook if you don’t want to do the job?
I’m not sure what really happened, but as someone who’s been in there shoes, you leave that attitude for after work, and it would’ve made a massive difference if she just asked what my diet was instead of assuming and having an attitude. Me and my partner both felt the negativity. It cost $0 to be nice.
It’s already uncomfortable for me to go out and have to try my best to not be inconvenient, I almost didn’t feel welcome for what I think was a simple request, lettuce wrap burger and Brussel sprouts...
Read moreI can't fully complete a review since our first attempt to visit ended in skipping out before even receiving drinks or water due to ungodly awful service.
We know that new restaurants always have some kinks to work out especially in the first months after opening, but our experience proved there are more than a few kinks to fix.
After sitting at the bar for close to 10 minutes, we felt invisible. We attempted to flag a bartender/server over twice and were given sarcastic comments and looks as a result. We felt we were simply inconveniencing the staff by just trying to get service.
Finally, we were able to order our drinks and food. We waited another 10+ minutes for our beers. They never came so we decided to throw in the towel and leave.
Things of note: Management systems are non-existent. There was no sense of coordination at all. Everything looked like a free for all. Staff was not assigned to certain seats at the bar, so it was very easy to get overlooked.
We did go on a Saturday so the crowd and some slower service was expected, but this was unacceptable.
Owners should consider hiring some type of consultant to address a lot of these problems. With all these issues, it seems the owners are clueless about how to run a restaurant/bar.
We might try visiting again, but we'll wait at least a couple months and try going on a weekday. Maybe they can handle a weekday dinner rush.
Other recent Olympia restaurant openings were much better executed than Well 80's. I'll continue frequenting other...
