Washington State Capital Travel Guide! Guess What WA's Fave Fruit Is? 🍎
Joshua FaganJoshua Fagan
Depending on my mood, I might call this the most beautiful building in the entire city. I understand why they made the move of the capital to a more traditionally neoclassical building, but I adore the Victorian age Romanesque revival, and this has a lot of elements of that. There's the heavy, broad ceremonial arch and imposing turrets with conical roofs, as well as a general use of rusticated stone for construction: all of this contributes to the overall effect of the building, which others have noted resembles an old British castle. This kind of style, along with a mixture of the symmetrical and the exuberantly ornate, is very 19th century. The structure enobles and elevates the spirit above the mechanical routines of a mechanistic commercial world, as good architecture should. I also appreciate the intricate bronze statue of George Washington made for the bicentennial of the United States and placed in front of the arch.

This place is so beautiful! Very peaceful, would definitely recommend to go visit this place with family or friends. Inside it’s amazing all of the hard work that was put into building this place is amazing. The town it’s safe is very small and quit. But definitely recommend to stop by and check it out if your driving by you won’t regret it! To park I believe it was $10 but to enter in we didn’t have to pay anything. Also if your into photography it’s a great place to get some amazing pictures in.

What a wonderful, magical, detailed, beautiful building. Just the level of detail work on almost all the surfaces inside and out there is so much to look at you need to take a lot of pictures and then go over them at home so you can zoom in on the little things throughout this Castle. Your best option is to have a tour guide to explain what you're looking at cause, you think it is one thing and turns out to be something else interesting. Love the atmosphere here it has a good vibe. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. This is a must try place, so pack up a good lunch grab your girl, or your friends and family and check...
