Update: Since someone decided to reply to my review wanting to thank me for writing a “fake review” I figured I’d find the charge for the visit I didn’t make to their establishment. Obviously I was just confused and was never in the restaurant (as evidenced by me paying a bill!) I can breathe a sigh of relief now knowing it was all just a nightmare…… or in reality the management just can’t accept responsibility for their failures and would rather place that blame on someone else. Way to miss yet another opportunity to fix what your staff failed to do the first time. Grow up and do better.
Came in with high hopes based off the overall reviews. Guess I ended up being one of the folks with the horrible experience. Gotta say the environment is really nice. It kind of dies off after that. My first clue I should have reconsidered was the dining space was almost empty at 6:30 or so on a Friday. It took a good bit of time to be greeted and even seated. We were about to walk out when someone finally acknowledged us. Annoying, but who knows maybe a fluke?
So we ordered the platanitos to start. Gonna be honest I was not expecting sweet plantains with black beans. My fault for not asking and expecting savory for a starter. I ordered the carne asada and my girl ordered the stack seafood enchiladas. When it came to the carne asada it had to be one of the most flavorless things I have eaten in a while. They could have gotten some premade stuff from the butcher down the block and it would have had more anything. Lack of flavor and all it was at least edible. My girl had one bite of her “enchilada” and could barely get it down. She pretty much just said it was “inedible” and she is not one to complain about food. So since we were getting zero service I traded my bland asada with her. I took one bite of the dish and not only from the taste, but the smell tell it was spoiled seafood. Sour fish is the only words I can think to describe it. So not eating that.
Waited around and finally flagged down some staff to get our disappearing server. Told him about the issues and he asked if I wanted him to get a fresh one made?! I would have questioned if he was joking, but by then everything had been so bad I knew that was not the case. That’s about where any attempt to fix the issue died off. He asked if we wanted dessert (after bringing the check) which I declined.
I originally said I can’t see a version where I would return. Following their reply to my original review I not only wouldn’t return, but I’m going to be making a point to steer people away every...
Read moreIt’s taken me a while to leave this review, mainly because I was so sad by the experience I had and I really wanted to be able to get over it so I could go back. I came here on December 29th at 6PM with my mom to celebrate her birthday. She only goes out twice a year, on my birthday and hers. She’s disabled from an TBI and has social anxiety. She also usually has a couple of questions for servers because she doesn’t love things too spicy. The server we had was a tall white woman with light brown hair. She was so incredibly dismissive and rude to my mom. She made her feel badly for asking any questions regarding the menu. The server was aware that it was her birthday. She was so pretentious and rude that it has stopped me from coming here again. I wanted to speak up right then and there but I was so shocked and saddened that I just froze. I was really saddened by the experience and felt it to be the most unwelcoming space I’ve ever dined in. And worse, it made my mom feel incredibly sad and like she was an annoyance on her birthday. I have been to this restaurant a number of times and the food and service was amazing. I was so excited to show my mom this place it broke my heart that it was such a poor birthday experience for her. I love dining in Olympia, I love supporting local businesses and I absolutely understand what it is like to work in the service industry- having done so myself in the past. I am someone that tries really hard to be relaxed and see the positive side of things but this experience gutted me and made me feel so badly for my mom. I really hope this server can learn how to communicate in a kind, patient and welcoming way, that alone has the power to make your entire experience a great one or a...
Read moreListen, if you want amazing food that comes with impeccable service in an atmosphere that makes you feel relaxed, this is it folks! The quality and flavor to price is unreal. I'd pay more for what they provide.
We had a large party where a lot of different dinner items were ordered and not a single dish was under 5 star quality or flavor.
For a nice start to food, if you get the bacon wrapped jalapeños, or the Mexican corn you will be teasing your taste buds for a lovely time. It's worth mentioning that they have other appetizers and I feel that no matter what you get it will be top tier!
Homemade tortilla chips and salsa which I didn't want to stop eating. While most places offer this, you can tell these are a cut above everyone else.
From the seafood melody they have to the different variety of spice and flavor enchiladas, it was amazing. If you love tacos, guess what, they have amazing selection of meats and seasoning you can get, the carne asada was my personal favorite.
If you love a nice spice and chicken, the habanero enchiladas are the way to go.
If you want something that you can enjoy there and then again as a snack the burritos are HUGE! Their flavor is HUGE as well!
All in all, why are you still reading and not at Valentinas enjoying some of the best...
