Price, quality AND quantity is all off. You pay the price of a resturaunt meal for a burger that is pretty huge, but the patties are just berry thin charred beef. Not cooked, charred. Borderline burnt. No fried come with a $20 burger, nor a drink. Which is honestly disappointing, because if you go to outback and get a $20 steak, you get a beverage and a side with that. They are next to the zoo, but honestly. I would have rather waited in line on a busy day and payed for admittance to the zoo only to go eat at the zoo's resturaunt by the aquarium and left without seeing the zoo. Which is not cheap, but at least it would have been worth it. My daughter got like some chicken strips and French fries and she didn't want to eat them, she's 2. I tried them and they ended up in the trash. Fries were bland af and they chicken fingers tasted frozen and without any seasoning. Just gross. I had memories of going to the zoo and eating at King Kong in the early 2000's and the nostalgia just wasn't enough to take any pleasure in going there. Whoever the manager is, have some respect for yourself and the business you operate. Do better, seriously. And to whomever owns this location, 100% change policies, quality and update your meals. It is definitely fast food and it is less than a minute down the road from a McDonald's. Make it worth the trip, and consider new employee's if you cannot get a handle on them. Because whatever you're doing now, obviously isn't working. I went there on a Monday afternoon after school hours, the Zoo was packed and I honestly thought King Kong was closed because it had no...
Read moreHad the Sirloin dinner, awesome cooks, they really know their steaks! Potatoes & Rice is the way to go! Salad was great, too. Cost me less then $25 on a non-special day. That's pretty good price for a Sirloin you could share and still be full... UPDATE 2/22/24 : STEAK WAS UNDER COOKED! That's a first, usually they are spot on. I forgive the cook and will go back again, but what bothered me this trip was; I showed up around 7:30pm and they close at 8:00pm, but they wouldn't let me dine in! I was alone, I have good table manners, and I don't make a mess. Actually, my OCD makes me wipe down the table and push in my chair when I'm done! The meal was large, but easily consumed within 20min. I think the asian guy just wanted out early! He did shut the "open " sign off as I was waiting for my steak (7:38pm). It just wasn't like them to make it feel inconvenient or non comforting to be there. I liked the stern lady who used to be there running the show. She ran a tight shift and cut no corners! When the sign says "closed at 8:00pm" that didn't mean have your order in and you out by 7:30, it meant sit, relax and enjoy your dinner. By the way, no orders will be taken after 8 or the last order has to be in by -:-- for dine-in and -:-- for to go orders! He (the host) seemed to be lazy, or a slacker or maybe just not a company man. I could be...
Read moreAfter passing by on 3 previous excursions from Kansas City to the Omaha Zoo, I decided to finally give this fast food place and it's hard to miss Giant Ape advertizing a try.
Word to the wise, a family of 4 can share a large fry and the double kong burger alone was more than enough for me (and I have a large appetite, especially after walking a zoo).
My wife got the gyro and fried mushrooms. I got the double Kong burger and a large fry, and my son got the tenders. Everything came out steaming hot and in large proportions as I said. I thought the burger was really good (if not on the well done side for those who aren't into that), and the tenders and fries were pretty good. My wife wasn't as impressed with her gyro and mushrooms, can't win them all.
All of this ended up running a $50 price tag, which felt pretty expensive for 2 adults and a toddler to eat fast food. We obviously in hindsight could have opted for just the gyro, burger, and tenders...however that still would have run us nearly $40 which is quite expensive.
Overall my main critque would be to maybe lower the prices a few bucks. The novelty of being acrossed from the zoo will certainly net first time customers from out of town the first visit. However, the prices may keep them from making a...
