King Kong is an animal themed burger and gyro joint. It is located across the street from the Omaha Zoo. Proximity to the zoo is clearly the reason for the animal theme in decoration. Overall, this is a fast food place with a splash of decoration and big food. The burgers are huge. The single is more than big enough, yet they sell double, triple and even quad burgers. The buns, lettuce and onion are generous. The pickles are adequate. The American cheese is uninspiring. Other condiments are up to you. Fries and a drink are separate items. The fries are quite good. The drink cup is a bit skinny. A single burger, order of fries and soda cost a little over $20. That’s not a typo. You get a huge burger and impressive side of fries, but you pay handsomely for it. Overall, this is a place to go occasionally as a treat when very hungry, but not regularly.

Asked the cashier what was most popular, she said the gyro. So we ordered a platter, which is 18.99 and the single kong sandwich, which was I believe 11.49. Drinks were separate. I'm from the Chicago area, so if I pay that much for a burger, it better be Angus and come with fries. This was neither. It is a kong sized burger for sure, but it did not have enough flavor. It had char grilled lines but tasted like it was either a processed or low grade burger. I LOVE burgers, but this one, I could not. The condiments are self-serve in pump canisters. The mustard was runny. The gyro did not taste like Kronos, which, again, if you are from or have visited the Chicago area, you know what I'm talking about. It came with a salad and a side. We requested rice with beans, which was decent. I will not return. The other thing I want to mention is I literally ordered, went to the bathroom for at most 3 minutes, and when I came back, my husband had the food. Everything was cold, according to my husband. I was on a call, so I assumed the food had cooled off. But he said it came like that. I shoukdve just taken it all back; I suspected it wasn't fresh for how quickly it was served. I'm truly disappointed. Especially for 50 bucks.

First time in the area and the state so me and my wife decided to stop at a local place instead of a chain. The service was ok, atmosphere was very nice and clean. We had the gyro plate with beans and rice, which was suggested and a single Kong burger. The foods presentation was amazing. Huge burger and the gyro plate full of meat. Unfortunately I had a bad feeling about the food when I was called to get it literally less than five minutes of me sitting down. I'll just cut it short and say everything was cold. Nothing was made fresh which was obvious from the waiting time. We're use to kronos meat and this was not that. My wife didn't even finish her food I barely finished mine. Doubt if we will be in the area any time soon but never again. I typically give a place the benefit of the doubt but for the price (over $40) I'd expect better quality. Or at the least hot food. I don't mind paying for good food but this place missed the mark today. I do not recommend.

Very expensive and not worth the price. If I'm going to pay for quantity over quality, I'm better off going to a buffet. I'm ashamed that I spent over $15 on a burger, fries and drink as it is, but not a single thing was even good. The single patty was a large, flavorless mass and all the condiments I put on couldn't make it edible. Also, for a $10 burger could you remember the no pickles or onions? The fries were ok so I wasn't left starving when I gave up trying to eat this. The sweet tea definitely wasn't fresh. I don't understand how this place is it business. Did I go on a bad day? Were they out of salt pepper or just simply unable to add any flavor to that spongy burger?

My review is based on the fact that, being from Kansas City, I had no idea about the menu here NOR did I know how HUGE the burgers are! The woman at the registers was so helpful. I had reservations about eating at a place with a huge King Kong in front of the building, but once inside, it was very pleasant and the food was really good. First timers should try the steak, UNLESS your goal is to have an extremely LARGE burger. ONE PATTY for a single burger is a half pound by itself. A double is a WHOLE POUND OF meat! My whole family loved their food and I am not easily impressed....ever. 4 out of 5 Gavels Find me on Facebook @GavelReview Thank you!

I like trying local places in lieu of chains. We were going to the zoo and wanted food. We got the gyro plate and the Philly steak. It was sooooo goooood. The pita was soft and pillowy, the gyro meat was tender and well seasoned, the veg was fresh, the tzatziki was creamy and delicious! The salad and fries were the sides we chose, the fries were really good (they remind me of curly fry texture and I love that!) I also love feta and calamata olives so this was a great meal, definitely recommend and will return if in the area again. What about the steak Philly? My husband ate it so fast that I think it's safe to say that it was good too 😄 Enjoy!
