Will not return again. Horrible experience. When we arrived at 4 pm, the sign out front said open 11 am to 9 pm. We went inside to find all the staff hanging out at the counter. When we asked to be seated we were told we would have to leave and return at 4:30 because there was no one in the kitchen. We verified the hours open and left. After walking the wharf for 20 minutes and seeing what appeared to be the chef return, we noticed people going in so we returned. Again all staff were around the counter joking including the chef sitting on the steps. The hostess told us to wait one moment, turned to chef said "are you ready to work", he nodded yes, she turned to us said "ok the kitchen is open I can seat you".She starts to walk then notices my service dog, turns and says "you will have to eat outside with that dog". Now this is a white 12 lb dog with a bright red vest clearly marked SERVICE DOG and a 1 inch wide black leash with LARGE white letters running its entire lenght stating service dog. I said excuse me he is a service dog and allowed in the dining room. She turned to the staff behind her they shrugged, one said "service dog ... ok let her in". Why isnt this staff trained in the laws about service animals. We ordered drinks and both dinners were the specials ... one beef tips, asparagus and mashed potaotoes, the other soft shelled crab, asparagus and mashed potatoes. The crab was so overcooked it was dried to the point that it was like eating potaoto chips, the mashed potatoes tasted like instant and were covered in the bbq type sauce from the crab, the asparagus was good... the beef tips was a major joke. They were shredded beef in mushroom gravy poured over the same potaoes.... insult to injury it was not BEEF TIPS but pot roast. Had it been over noodles it would have beef a perfect beef stroganof. This they charged $38 for .... pot roast for $38. I am a firm believer that the test of a good restaurant is its staff ,its specials and its CONSISTANCY. If its your SPECIAL it should be your best. I was not there to be compt or discounted just to see your best. We came, we ate, we left. We...

Β Β Β Read moreI haven't been to Mallard's in years, but in the past, my experience there was amazing! Today, however, was a huge disappointment... I ordered a crabcake sandwich, which was fabulous, but my option for a side was potato salad and it comes with chips. Two potatoes? I asked if there was an alternative and was offered cole slaw and accepted. The Cole slaw had an off-colored look to it as if it had been sitting in the heat. As I inspected further & removed the congealed layer, the remaining slaw was obviously spoiled as the Mayo was literally bubbling each time I put my fork in it! I would have mentioned this to the server, but she never bothered to come back to the table, check on me or ask me if I needed anything (the 3 basics of serving food). She offered me the check moments after I received a phone call & was distracted. I was there for approximately 40 mins and it wasn't until I received the call, that she abruptly came over & motioned if l was ready for the ck. I nodded, she brought the check, I immediately placed my credit card in and placed it so she could take it. She again just disappeared. There was one other table inside (where l was) and two outside and at least 2 servers. I eventually carried my tab up to the register to pay. What has happened to this once outstanding restaurant? The crabcake was awesome, yes, but not worth being snuffed by the staff or potentially getting food poisoning from the spoiled cole slaw! VERY...
