Best. Doughnuts. Ever.
Seriously. I had one about 5 years ago that were a day or two old they were giving out because an advisor bought too many. The taste was so good it made my jaw drop, I asked where they were from. The rest was history. (They tasted fresh, too, still!)
I came a few days ago and finally got myself a box. Beyond divine. I especially recommend the basic glazed and twirls. The swirls were also really good. There's some that aren't as good, like some (but not all) of the chocolate-y ones and sticky buns, but almost everything is pure bliss.
They also offer other baked goods, like cookies.
Everyone was extremely friendly, and they kept busy but not too busy, you know? It was clear they were working but also putting their best foot forward with customers. I respect that.
They do not have substantial combo deals, so you pay for full or nearly full price for a box of doughnuts, for example.
Other negatives include the state of the building itself. It's an older one on the side of a very narrow street in a downtown area, so the building's a bit small, too. Thankfully, parking wasn't too far, although it was sort of located in the back and you had to walk around. These factors can't exactly be fixed in a jiffy, so I can't discount it too much. If I had to suggest something, maybe a new coat of paint or flooring? If you want to get more modern, some more outlets aren't a bad idea.
It was so worth the multiple hour drive (even if gas prices hurt a little, haha). You absolutely have to stop by if you're...

It was pretty packed when we got there, but they are nothing if not efficient. The wait was not long and we were soon able to walk away clutching 6 tasty looking donuts. There are PLENTY of flavors to choose from, so hang back from the line so you can take it all in before placing your order.
Overall, they were pretty solid donuts. My biggest thing is that I like a little stiffer dough and they were very sweet for someone who tends more to the bitter, savory side of things. Honestly though, if you are staying in Onancock to catch a ferry or just passing through, it is definitely worth a stop.
TIP: Get there on Saturday because they are...
ย ย ย Read moreAmazing bakery that has been in business over 100 years per one of the local artisans. There was a line to the back of the store and the locals told us there is often a line down the street. My advice, get there when they first open or you may not get anything, because their food is so delicious that it sells out! We were not disappointed with the sugar cookie, glazed doughnut, cinnamon roll, or cream puff that we all shared, but we missed out on everything else that had already sold out. We'd love to have tried their Maple Bacon, Reese's, and Strawberries and Cream Cheese doughnuts, but they were all gone! We highly recommend making a trip here! The man behind us in line traveled from Virginia Beach to get doughnuts so that lets you know just how...
