The Blarney Stone Pub — Restaurant in Onancock

We had dinner tonight there. (About 8 pm). Three people of over 70 years of age. We asked the waitress if the IPA beer on tap had fruit as both men don't care for fruit in there beer. The answer was " the waitress doesn't drink beer so she did not know. ( bad or incomplete training of the wait staff). My margarita was very good. The beer was " very fruity " but the guys were going to suffer with it. I got up and asked another bar maid what they did about unacceptable beer. Shrugs and whispering among the staff but nothing was resolved. You missed your chance to sell us more beer.

The main course was bangers and mash for the guys. It has mashed potatoes and peas. Under questioning it was admitted that the meal was very salty. I had shepherds pie. I was cautioned that it was hot which it was. Upon eating it I was disappointed in the flavors. It was mush mashed potatoes kind of watery maybe made from a mix. The peas were fine , few carrots fine but it was incredibly salty. The beef was in clumps as though there was a defrosting thing going on at one time. I know because I cook for my family for 50 years.

The noise level was obnoxious. We took a seat at the back of the place so we could talk. This band for a few seconds lowered the noise upon the bar maids request. By the next song it was EVEN LOUDER.

I regret the experience. I hope this review helps the management to improve...

I love this place. However lastnight was super disappointing. Lets start with the service. I asked the waitress three times for a sprite and she just never gave it to me instead lingered in a corner gossiping and talking. So I asked the beautiful bartender in front of her and the waitress just rolled her eyes and said nothing. I asked her for steak sauce and she brought me an empty bone dry bottle. She never gave us napkins and made it a point to worry about the boys in the corner and to just be a social butterfly instead of really caring about us. Now the food. The Crabdip always comes wayyy too creamy with a little pinch of old bay on top for DECORATION. I always have to ask for a cup of oldbay because its just a creamy mess. Im from maryland and I can promise you that you got your crab dip recipe all wrong. I had some steak devor or however it was pronounced. I asked for it to be cooked @medium- and it was well done 3/4 with a bloody corner. There was NO seasoning or flavor to the steak it tasted bland. I ended up with explosive diarrhea within the hour. My date never complained until it came to the other half of his salmon. He said it was just salty. Im only on here complaining because we ran up $100+ tab and left upset about the service/food. Went for dinner. Was greeted and seated right away. It's very loud in there but it is a pub so I guess that is to be expected. I ordered the burger with american cheese, shoestring fries and a side salad. Salad was good. I ordered my burger well done. The food was dropped off by someone other than the server. I started to eat my burger and noticed it was definitely not well done, more like medium with a pretty red center. I let the waiter know and he took the plate back. About 5 minutes later he brought my fries back.... they were cold by then. He said the burger would be back soon. 5 mor minutes later the burger was back this time cooked well done. I didn't notice right away but there was no cheese this time...I didn't bother to end it back this time. So, I ate the cold fries and most of the well done, cheeseless burger. The bun was grilled as well and was quite burnt so I only ate the meat. I was surprised they did not bring back fresh fries when the burger came back.
