The strip of Euclid between Mission and Philadelphia might be the best Mexican food crawl in the entire Inland Empire, enhanced, without question, by the well landscaped center divider on the thoroughfare and the century old houses in the neighborhood. Amid many Euclid Avenue heavy hitters, Tijuanaâs Tacos is one of the standouts. It is the current occupant of a building that has likely seen many different businesses pass through with the years. I probably should have ordered the eponymous taco al estilo Tijuana, but I have developed a recent interest in the Mexican state of Michoacan and opted for the Torta Michoacana instead. Apparently, this place is well tooled in pan-Mexican cooking because the torta is close to perfect, wanting only for sturdier bread so you donât have to end up eating the sandwich with a fork and knife held within your lard laced fingers. Before the behemoth of a sandwich arrives, you are treated to complimentary pork and pinto bean soup, really the perfect touch of hospitality and class. It is delicious, no indifference in its preparation. The cantaloupe agua fresca was a tad over sweet. The salsas are fairly standard: one roja, one bright verde, and one murky verde. The curtidos are above par. One is fresh with raw red onions, serranos, and dried oregano. The other is vinegar pickled jalapenos, carrots and bay leaves. The torta Michoacan is a fatboy fantasy. Crisp carnitas interlocked with chewy/tender buche tucked into a sheet of ham, a mattress cover of Monterrey jack and a comforter of avocado. With all the richness of the sandwich, youâll find yourself chasing every bite with a shovel full of curtido. Youâre likely to return to the salsa bar to replenish. Tijuanaâs Tacos rivals Korean restaurants with how much good food it...
Read moreSo I passed like four or five different taco places because I wanted to try this one out. With Tijuana in the name I figured it has to stand up to the level of taste as if I was in Tijuana Mexico. I was disappointed they had no âarracheraâ or other premium meats like the likes of âTaco-N-Todo,â in TJ. They did have a variety of meats.
So I ordered 12 Carne Asada tacos, which for the price of under three dollars they werenât bad. I wouldâve liked them a little bigger tortillas but it was good value for your money. The guacamole was pretty tasty and the variety of âcurtidosâ was spot on!
I asked for everything on the side, but when I got home and opened them, they were loaded with raw onions. In my experience, when an establishment drops a load of onions on a taco their meat is not as tasty. They could do better with their meat taste And cut down on the serious amount of onions. They throw on there.
The Horchata was pretty good as a matter fact in overall, I will definitely come back to this place and try their other meats. However, I remain disappointed that it does not stand up to the level of the real...
Read more   Read moreI love authentic Mexican food... (duh). This place is GREAT! Bomb tacos, burritos and all kinds of little signature grinds. I went tonite, asked for a lengua quesadilla and she said "ya". Holy friggin grilled cow tongue it was amazing. All other spots have told me no. We got a handful of tacos and also decided to finally order a torta. Forget the name of it but it had pastor, lengua, asada, buche and I think birria. It was so damn good. If you live in Southern Ontario and your not eating at Tijuana tacos "YOUR FUC#$G SLIPPIN".. it's not cheap, however it's not expensive and it's top shelf food. Your doing yourself and your family a disservice if your not eating here. Oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention the fact they give you free beans that are super tasty and all kinds of traditional additions, onions, radish, lemon, etc... the one thing I will say bad about the spot is the salsa/hot sauce isn't that great. And I love this place so much that its hard to say that. Eat here, trust me you will not regret it! Tijuana...
