How the hell can you judge sushi grade fish that has been drowned in hot sauce? The answer is it's difficult for the palate yet simple for your gut. It raises the hair on the back of my neck when I see the tub of spicy anyfish and a scoop. Some Asians do this just for money, being imposters that is, funny thing is most don't even notice.
Greasy Seafood Pancakes, Hwe Dup Bap and Bulgogi along with Sexy & Dynamite Rolls, Sushi Pizza and lot's of spicy this and that screams not Japanese! If I wanted Korean I'd go to a Korean restaurant. Masking frozen fish with spice, covering it in pink sauce (mayo & sriracha) and crunch is the name of the game in the "specialty roll" biz and not to be outdone Ocean Sushi has all the bases covered except I didn't see the requisite Oradell Ave roll.
I'd fall on my sword before all the tears a Japanese Sushi Chef would shed, specialty rolls are not very special...

Then the bill comes, to my surprise, I see a charge for sriracha for $0.50. Hmm seriously? I’m surprised I didn’t see charges for toilet, napkins, plate and silverware .... I also ordered beef teriyaki lunch special that says it comes with rice and they charged me $2.00 extra for rice. Very dishonest and sneaky! Will never go back!
Oh and Hey Ocean Sushi, if you’re reading this, keep up the stinginess. Customers will dwindle. Why?! Geez... I wonder. Well let me tell you, unhappy customers = they won’t think twice about stepping foot inside your place again!!! How do ya like them apples?
Ocean Sushi Cheapo!!! PS I should give you $0.50 for tips so you can keep the change you...
Read moreNot good. Let's start by saying that. Sushi quality is average or less. They send you stuff not as described on the menu. For example the sashimi roll say it comes wrapped in cucumber but it comes wrapped in radish. When I pointed this out to the waitress she dismissed me and told me radish is too spicy for most people and if I was a regular I'd know I should ask for the roll as it is on the menu. It was a slow night with slow service. I believe it's actually Korean not Japanese as the menu features bulgogi and hwe dup bap. I love both dishes but not what I'm looking for when I want Japanese. I could go on with the negatives but as I said initially...
