The food at this Venezuelan food truck is genuinely delicious and fresh. I was impressed with the quality and the interesting variations on classic dishes, it's a great find for something authentic and tasty.
However, be prepared for significant drawbacks. The service is slow and the prices are notably high. The cost is on par with a sit-down restaurant, which feels steep for a food truck experience. For example, a Venezuelan breakfast with a bottle of juice runs about $22, and a full equipo (which is actually quite a tiny portion) is about $14.
It's important to note that the truck operates in a food court setting. The seating, atmosphere, and maintenance are provided by the central restaurant area, not by the truck itself. This context makes the premium pricing even more difficult to justify, as you are not paying for a dedicated service environment.
The prices are not listed on the large poster menu hung on the truck. You only see the total once you are handed the receipt after paying, which makes the already high cost a surprising and unpleasant shock.
The long wait time, lack of price transparency, and confusing value proposition mean it's not an option if you're in a hurry or on a budget.
In short: The food is excellent, but you pay a premium price for a meal that lacks the full service and ambiance of a restaurant. You must budget extra time and be prepared for a surprise at the register. Recommended only for a leisurely treat if you're aware of the...
Read moreNot a local but I can say I wouldn't return. The Christmas Arepa was good but not amazing; it was a 3 star entree. Our son got the Carne Asada bowl (which was $20). My wife and I ordered Tostones and we were very unhappy.
I have visited Caribbean destinations, and made Tostones at home, and Tostones are soft, slightly crispy, but still tender. These were very hard, crunchy, and overly crispy. If these were the first Tostones I ever had I would never order them again.
I am giving them a star back as my wife went to ask about the Tostones and she was told they should have been soft. They offered to remake them for us but we did not want to wait for another batch. We did get another item in their place. The Tostones are $9 each.
Overall, we got three entrees and two sides of Tostones; cost was around $70 and this was not worth that money.
As we were preparing to leave they, also, brought out a Tres Leche mini-cake. Does the owner care about the experience? ABSOLUTELY. Maybe we were the...
Read moreI’d like to share some feedback about an empanada I recently purchased from your place, which was priced at seven dollars. Honestly, for that price, I expected at least a decent amount of filling, or simply for the empanada to be filled properly, as it traditionally should be.
I’m not usually one to complain, but it felt disrespectful that even after eating more than half, almost three-quarters, there was still barely any filling. Regardless of the taste, which might have been okay, the lack of filling made the whole experience really disappointing.
This not only affects the customer experience but also misrepresents Venezuelan cuisine, which is known for being rich, generous, and flavorful. This empanada, to be honest, was mediocre, and way too expensive for what it was.
I hope you can take this as constructive criticism, because for those of us who know and appreciate Venezuelan food, this simply doesn’t...
