I'm going to try and start this off easy but I used to go to H H salt and fish with my grandparents about 40 years ago and until my young adulthood life in Corona California. I was completely bummed not only did they take the good food away but they were taking them memories that my grandparents and I would share there. At least that's the way I felt back then. Now again 4 years later me and my friend were talking about HH salt and fish and I told him I wish they were still around that was my favorite. Then he brought me the delightful news that they still existed I pretty much called him a liar and told him if he could find one I didn't care if it was a hundred miles away I was going to go have lunch , he looked it up on line and it was literally 5 miles from his house. So I left his place with extremely high hopes that it would be the same or at least a little close. So again because he found it online place is closed I called and they were still open. At that point I jumped in my car and ran straight down there I have to talk to the gentleman I don't know if he's manager owner I forgot to ask but by his reply I would say he was the owner of that store I told him my story and ask him if it was the same. That's when he told me he is been with them for 27 years I knew I was in good hands in. But I still have to say he blew me away on how much it tasted the same you did back then. If I could I'd give this a 10 and a half for the food. I can only see say the only negative thing I can say about it was it was a little too hot in there for me but I also understand you have to be able to make the money. then he was nice enough to even tell me but there was one 40 minutes from my house I couldn't believe it. and sir I'm sorry I wish I would have got your name to give you the kudos but you know who you are and you did a banging job. Wish my grandparents were here today to enjoy it but by the smile on my face God bless them they were
Sincerely a true HH Salt & Fish lover from...
Read moreI must say. "If it ain't broke, then don't fix it." In an Era where every food establishment is trying to create something out of the ordinary new, this Mom and Pops-like restaurant gives you what your soul longs for. The flavors brings back the memories of my childhood when this was the treat of a weekend. Hit all the right notes. I got a few pieces of fish, some hush puppies, some medium shrimps, and of course some of their famous chips (steak fries). Malt vinegar and cocktail sauce was free, but you will have to purchase the homemade tarter sauce for small $.50 or large $1.30. Because they are now a small family owned type of restaurant they do charge 4% for the use of credit card. Honestly though, the food is good enough to make you forget that. They have plastic visors up for protection and the establishment is very clean. Anyways, back to the food. I got my food to go. The owners are so gracious and kind. The food was packaged very well and they even made sure it was OK to put my Hush puppies in the same bag as my shrimp. Thoughtful. Most places would have just put where they want and let me deal with it later. I ended up spending about $21. It was so worth the price in my opinion. The parking lot is awfully small. Oh, after thought. You can call ahead but I didn't. When I went at 5:30pm on a Monday, my meal was cooked fresh and ready to go within 6min and you can watch the owner cook it too....
Read moreThe Vintage Vault of Upland - a gem of a spot for anyone into authentic vintage. First thing to know: this isn't a thrift store. A lot of people walk in trying to haggle like they're at a flea market, but this is a curated space showcasing actual vintage finds, many of which are priced fairly for what they are--sometimes even under market value, whether by accident or just a vendor trying to move inventory. The layout is really cool--a mix of rooms and stalls, each with its own vibe, run by different vendors. It makes the whole place feel like a little time-travel maze. I chatted with someone who seemed to be either an owner or employee--they were super kind, approachable, and clearly passionate about the place. Their presence also adds a sense of security and support, especially when you need something taken down off a wall or have questions about specific pieces. I grabbed a couple cool items myself and honestly, this is one of those spots I'll definitely hit up again. It's got character, a solid rotation of goods, and it's just a special spot in Upland that...
