Well the food is great and Edith is the most awesome waitress there is! I gave it a 3 star because I'm not sure we are going back. I had the misfortune of being in front of the owner at the left turn light on Tustin who turned into the KFC to try to beat the left hand light and who cut me off coming out of the other side of the KFC lot as I was turning left. THEN he parked in the blue lines next to the handicap parking...a place even the handicapped can't park so he didn't have to wait for a parking spot. His car was there for 45 minutes and he unloaded a box and loaded a hand truck (2 minutes for each). It doesn't matter anyway because these blue lines are a no parking and no loading zone. And his place closes at 2:00. There is no reason for him to be doing any of that while customers are there and after they closed they should have more parking opportunities. I know this should have nothing to do with my review and some of you may not care but for me this tells me the type of person he is and I'm not sure I can patronize a place owned by someone with such disregard for the law and for people with disabilities. Those lines are there so the disabled can exit and enter their cars without worrying they are going to hit another car's door and so they have enough room to get in and out. So the food and service are 5 stars! The owner is a zero. I averaged it and rounded up. Hope this helps some of you.
After posting this on Yelp I got a nasty response from the owners justifying why they should be able to park in the blue line area...so they can unload groceries. So I took off two more stars. They were so nasty and made no apologies which clearly shows that they don't care about their handicapped customers...IMO. They helped make up my mind...
Read moreThe cafe had very little ambiance besides the cool license plates from different states and countries, so I was a tad skeptical when i walked in. However, as we were eating, the cafe got more and more full on a MONDAY.
My family ordered a variety of egg/omelette dishes that I found to all be mediocre. However, this review is for my meal, and I ordered the crab cakes benedict with homestyle fries with onions and peppers.
I absolutely loved the crab cakes. It had a lot of hollandaise sauce so it was on the heavier side but the flavors and spices were really excellent. The side of potatoes were in desperate need of spices but the texture was at least good.In fact, all the side of potatoes (fries, hasbrowns, etc) didn't have any seasoning. I found that to be odd.
My family and I decided to share the creme brulee french toast. Despite being full, I could not stop eating this. It was AMAZING. Mind blowing. The brulee sauce came on the side, so you could make the french toast as sweet as you wanted. By the end of the meal, I was regretting not ordering it as my whole entree. Everyone else at the table raved about it as well, so seriously ORDER IT.
I do have to say that the service was truly excellent. My family and I don't eat pork and the waitress came back to tell us that my sister's country fried steak is served with pork-based gravy, and offered her hollandaise instead. I always appreciate when people remember and are respectful of dietary restrictions.
Since I don't live in Orange, it is unlikely that I would trek over here...except maybe for that french toast. But cute little gem with excellent prices and a few...
Read moreYou know that breakfast place you’ve always been searching for but never quite found it? The one that ticks all the boxes for you… Well, I found it here in my hometown of Orange! Since discovering Orange Café after passing by the intersection of Tustin and Mayfair a few times I decided to give it a shot. I walked out immediately blown away by the gracious service, the size of portions and the overall quality of the food. The atmosphere reflects going home to moms for a family brunch where everyone is having a good time and that food reflects that. The Orange Café has become our standby on Saturday mornings. Debbie, Nina, and Maria are exceptional! They make you feel more than just a part of the family, they make you feel like you are part of their own family. It’s not always easy finding a neighborhood gem but when you do, you want to keep it to yourself. However, this place deserves the attention, and I am happy to see them grow. My usual regardless of where I go is corned beef and hash. The dish here is exceptional as it is restrained. Exactly as it should be. Pair it with Irish fries along with the eggs and you walk out happily stuffed. The ownership is caring beyond measure and their authenticity is felt throughout. My child and I love our daddy/daughter breakfast dates here and look forward to many more to...
