PUBlic Legacy — Restaurant in Orange

Honestly, the experience at Public legacy was extremely disappointing. We came from out of state and this was going to be my groups night out for a fancy dinner. I ordered the steak and frites. The waiter was fun and joking with us, it seemed great at first. He brought us drinks, but then it took him over half an hour to come back and take our order… we were one of the only tables in the restaurant at the moment. It took a long while to get our food, which made sense because we did come in with a large group; however, when I got my steak it looked good from the outside but upon cutting into it, it was very overcooked. I ordered medium, which is supposed to be a hot pink center… my steak was completely brown, no pink. Waiter checked in, I called it to his attention, and he was quick to tell me he would take care of it. He came back seconds later saying “if you look closely there is a pink hue.” Yeah right. I told him I was disappointed and asked how they categorized steak temperatures and that medium is known as a hot pink center, he responded with an eye roll. Disrespectful. This place was a bit of a letdown for me. Rest of my party really enjoyed their entrees so I'll give a few stars. But out of their 10 or so entrees, they were already sold out of several of them that we tried ordering and it was only 7pm... Waiter said they sold out due to the crowds from before the ducks game... If that's true, whoever does the food ordering should start looking at the schedule. Food took a long time to come out, and our appetizer came out right alongside the entrees despite us wanting it anyway if the entrees. A waitress tried bringing us an entree that wasn't ours twice. Portion size isn't very good, I ended up being hungry later at night. The waiter would have been ok had he bothered to clear dishes, ours were piled up and he stopped by a few times and ignored the dishes. He didn't take a single thing (including empty glasses) until he came out with our dessert... He made a joke "I'll trade you" but it's pretty awkward to be clearing a table filled with used dishes that had been sitting for a while and getting dessert at...

We came here for brunch today. We ordered 2 egg Benny's. This dish is my go-to brunch item I go to. Both myself and the person in my party were able to take 2 bites. It was just horrible, flavor is odd, ridiculous amounts of peppercorn flakes, over salted greens to the point I just couldn't eat anything more, which is rare for me in these reviews. I've been burping up the peppercorns for an hour now, and how this passed a taste test is beyond my comprehension.

I don't believe myself to have odd tastes in comparison to most other people. So I'll be curious if others find the same dislikes with this dish.
