Barrel Room — Restaurant in Orangeburg

After we got a table and placed an order. Took over 40 min for a burger, meatball sub, and gyro. When the cart came by and said wait for the server. We had to take the food off our cart ourselves because she was nowhere near. ( Well, she was at the table at the front but went into the back) Checked on us quickly when first noticed we had our food. Never saw the waitress again until the other 2 people in the party went to use the restroom, after we were done with our meal plus 5. Never stopped by for refill. One party, cup empty before meal over. I had to ask for the check. She didn't come back to collect. We finally went to the front. Gentleman took check to give to waitress. Husband went back and sat down, hoping they would let us pay our bill. The manager finally came over, and we paid with cash. ( HORRIBLE SERVICE) SUB par food. His gyro was very small, not much to it at all. It was just OK. II had a burger and fries with bacon and feta. I ordered it well done. It was a good size but a little too well done. The outside was black, and the burger was dry. Because of its thickness and the long wait, I ate it. It was edible but not recommended. Fries were good. The other party had a meatball sub. It was ok. Nothing special. Meatsuace as well was overcooked. I'm not trying to be mean but very disappointed. Was traveling through and wanted to try a local place somewhere, never have been. Reviews gave high ratings. The manager said other restaurants were closed today, and they were abnormally busy. Hopefully, that is the case. I was just...

I've ordered takeout twice. The first time, I ordered the cheese burger. Today I got the grilled chicken sandwich with provolone and bacon. Both times, I thought the meat was good, but excessively seasoned. Seasoning should compliment or bring out the flavor of a quality piece of meat not completely overpower it. The seasoning they use is good; it's just all you can taste. I will probably get another burger in the future and ask them to go easy on the seasoning.

I got steak fries with my order both times. I love steak fries. They were good the first time, but the second time they either overcooked them or let them bake and dry out under a heat lamp. Not sure which but they were not as good as the first time.

The staff is very responsive and got to me quickly both times I came to pick up my order even though they were taking calls and dealing with other customers.

I haven't actually eaten in the restaurant, but it looks like a really pleasant place to enjoy a meal and have conversations with friends.

Went here on a Sunday after running errands, discovered that the Barrel Room, and Pizza House on Sims as well as Ice cream were all the same place and was slightly confusing for a second. I had a personal pep pizza, and wife had wings and fries. Our food was good, the server was attentive, they were preparing for an event in the Barrel Room. Saw a now hiring sign. Also loved that they have the robots to assist in delivering the food. They may encourage people who are afraid to carry trays to apply.
