Philly Special — Restaurant in Orangeburg

Ok this place is fantastic and quite frankly I wasn't expecting that. You can call me somewhat of a philly cheesesteak connoisseur and around orangeburg we just dont have that.......so I thought. First I walk in pessimistic after I see a Korean dude behind the grill naturally (I would think) I am taken aback but since I'm in the restuarant I might as well try it. I was greeted with the most beautiful customer service plenty of small talk that was genuine and not a facade. That was great but that doesn't mean the food will be prepared with the same love and grace. I check out the menu and am pleasantly surprised of the extensive menu I was looking upon. They honey grilled chicken sandwiches, various wings, tenders, salads Philly chicken and cheesesteaks. I go simple though and get a regular philly cheesesteak with some mango haberno wings. Try the wings first and to my astonishment they were cook to order. So often I eat wings that feel like they have been sitting under a lamp for several hours making it tough dry and difficult to consume. Good job on the wings but now to the nitty gritty. My philly cheesesteak is finally placed before me and it passes the eye test of nice cheese to steak ratio. I been places were there was more cheese than bread making it cheesy breadsteak instead of a philly cheesesteak. I finally dive in. the steak is cooked phenomenally. They could off skimped on the high end meat but this tasted like a top sirloin. And the bread OH MY GOD THE BREAD soft to the touch like the cookies you heat up in the microwave for 8 seconds. So many times the bread taste as tough as a marble countertop but not this one. This was so soft. In closing this is the best philly cheesesteak place in the state(yes I've been around the state) and I'm sorry to have judge the Chinese dude who was the owner who I thought was Korean. Used to be great now its trash. Ive tried a few times since the new owners took over. If you want mozzarella cheese on a Philly then give them a shot but its horrible now and it shouldn't be called a Philly either because they're that bad now. Its a shame the new guys cut costs and slacked on the product. Used to love this place but no way im going back its that bad now. Go back to the shaved ribeye and American cheese that's a Philly not the cheap stuff youre pushing out of there now.

Fair on the atmosphere i changed that to a 5 for the simple fact. Go Birds. On service I even gave you a 4. But whatever I got on my Philly last time isnt the same as what they were originally selling. The roll was an amarosso but not very fresh that was the only thing the same. Ill tell you this I live in Columbia, I used to drive to your restaurant a few times a month just to get a Philly. Id bring work friends, my family. Im from Philly i loved them. The fries were even different then the originals this past time. The thing is this isnt the first time its been like this. I called a while back and was told you were out of steak so I got chicken. Then another time it was like hamburger meat with cheese on it on an amarosso roll. Maybe im catching you when you run out of stuff and youre just trying to keep everything rolling as a business. But these are facts I wouldn't come here to bash you for no reason when this was literally the best cheesesteak you could find before. But when its been 3 bad times in a row and Im driving a good distance and out of my way just to get my Philly Special. I wish you the best of luck and I hope you guys can get it...

I love the food at this place and the people are nice too. The door is a little hard to open. I thought they were closed but someone eventually came and opened the door and I realized I didn’t pull hard enough. lol. I was thinking the food would be mediocre at best but I was so extremely surprised how good it is. I even got my dad making special trips to this place to get a sandwich and he never pays a little extra for a good meal. They offer a discount too which I think is amazing but I feel bad using it because I think it’s too much. I always leave a tip. They deserve it.
