Absolutely fabulous! Definitely a hidden gem. Was told by another person to try it out so hopefully this review will get their name out more so it's no so hidden. A friend told us about it and boy were we in for a surprise. There was a line the whole time we were there for the buffet and for the to-go side. If you wait for dinner time the price goes up and few dollars around 4ish but dang it's so worth it to pay more to get shrimp, 2 kinds of fish, scallops in town is great! It's a country buffet but the dinner offers the seafood items but it's so nice that everything was filled promptly and it all stayed hot. Constantly folks at the buffet but never had to wait long. Would have gotten more pics of the buffet items but someone was always getting a plate so its not a bad thing so I could only get photos of my tables plates. The decorations make it seem like an upscale dinning room with the dark colors but the pendit chandelier is really awesome. Even the bathrooms have all black colors but they were very dirty is the only negative I can find about Pauline's. So many dessert options and you have to try the peach cobbler which is hidden in the hot roll up cabinet but the rolls next to it were cold. Maybe they can have those yeast rolls hot next time as we are already planning our next visit. Have plenty of hot items like scallop potatoes, eice and gravy, mashed potatoes, some odd BBQ but we didn't come here for the BBQ and the mac n cheese is one of the best I've ever had besides mine. Lol Plenty of cold items like broccoli salad and coleslaw. I think the best part for the kids was the ice cream truck type options! They couldn't get enough of the options without getting sick as they even had oldschool orange push-pops. If these are actually Pauline's recipes then bravo to her as she has certainly come up with some great food and knows how to run a buffet. Cant wait...
Read moreThe city / county of Orangeburg has limited civilized, clean, seated, quality dining options, so this establishment is a breath of fresh air. The food selection is a great variety. Endless options of proteins, i.e., pork ribs, beef brisket fried & baked chicken, chopped smoked pulled pork, fried shrimp, fried fish, pork chops,.. It's buffett style (all you can eat) if you choose to dine in with all the fixings that's equally delicious. However, for $32 bucks plus tax is a bit much, for someone with a family of 3 or more, I feel your pain!. For someone like myself who is not a glutton individual and is easily filled off, one trip to the buffett this can be disappointing. Now, if you're one of these people who like to sit, talk, 2 to 3 hours and do a buffett marathon, and try and eat the restaurant out of business, then you definitely will get your money's worth. The one other takeaway is that the patrons who get their food to go are surprisingly a distraction and are very, inconveniently in your way. So, expect to wait in line at the buffett stations alongside the takeout patrons, who seemed to have no mercy on holding up the dine in customers. This experience is overwhelming and a disappointment to the dine in experience. The restaurant needs a separate area for the to go patrons, or they should come up with a better strategy. Last, they need a better selection of music on Sundays. Something that caters to more than one genre of people. Overall, the food is good and appreciated for an area with limited dine in options with a...
Read moreAfter reading reviews of this place and buffets being extremely limited to us distance wise we decided to try it. For a buffet it's very difficult to move through the small area. Most things were completely empty. They did refill but it took alot of time to do this. Personally for me out of everything I ate the collards, shrimp, and the Mac and cheese were the only two things I can say were decent tasting. It was just not enjoyable for me at all. My spouae enjoys fish so always seems to get his money worth. For the cost, the time to wait for items, the taste of the items not at all for me tasting like a home cooking buffet the cost is extremely high. I am glad we went and tried it but it isn't a place that will be on my mind of going back to in the future. It felt like the restaurant was placed in an area that needs something of this nature and isn't there to provide quality taste. The environment was very claustrophobic and uncomfortable. If you are looking for a place to really enjoy the cost of the food I would not recommend. If you are just wanting to try something different and are OK with the outcome of being satisfied or not satisfied when leaving I would say definitely...
