We ordered a wedding cake back in May for Saturday, July 12. We paid the initial $100 deposit and were told that the balance was due prior to delivery which is standard and we understood.
We received MULTIPLE phone calls from the bakery the Tuesday before our wedding stating that final payment was due for the cake and asking if we could extend the delivery window. I explained to the lady I spoke to that I had a call scheduled with our event coordinator that night and would call back with the window for delivery. After I spoke to our coordinator at 6pm, I promptly called the bakery that evening and stated that I would be in the following day with final payment and the delivery window.
My fiancĂ© and I both got calls the following morning around 9am stating that if they didnât get payment that day, that our cake would be canceled. Not something to tell a bride the week of her wedding especially since I had called to state I would be bringing in final payment. I wish that was the end of it.
We received over 5 phones calls between the two of us the day before our wedding, stating that if we wanted flowers on our wedding cake that they would need to be driven to their Warren store to be able to be placed on the cake by 7pm. We did not ask for flowers to be placed on the cake, it was always our intent and the bakery was told that we would be placing them ourselves. Again, not something you want to hear the day before your wedding.
Unless you are purchasing a pre made cake or dessert, I would not recommend this bakery. There is a lack of communication...
Read moreMy sister in law goes into their west side store and buys the white Alaska with strawberries for my son's graduation. We had lunch on the west side. As I cut the cake the cake (Not referring to the frosting) is falling apart / crumbling. The strawberries in the middle already turned the cream inside pink. Clearly you can tell the cake was not fresh, rather 2 days old or yesterday's cake. I called the warren store and I took it in. Owner looks at it and takes off the top layer... ma'am the cake is fresh . Sir, I was embarrassed to serve this cake. Sorry ma'am our cake is fresh . Sir, are you saying that I am lying? Ma'am, the strawberries are fresh.
Instead of taking the cake and offering to replace it. At the least he could have offered to give me the same cake only a fresher cake. Nope, nothing. Very unprofessional manager / owner. Truly disappointed. I have bought their cakes before and I was always satisfied. He didn't even bother to call the other store like I told him. He could have called there and asked how old the cake was / ask if I that cake was purchased within the past 3 yrs since my sister in law had the write on the cake, since obviously he was on the east side and not on the west side. I left the cake. The pieces that I served ended up in the garbage and the other half of the cake that I took in I left for him to keep / eat / throw out. A waste of $49
Thank you Mr. Unprofessional for backing up your stale cake and not keeping a customer satisfied. Will...
Read moreNever going back! We purchased a cake one week in advance of the event for our 4 year old daughter's birthday party. A few days prior to the event we were called and notified that the order could not be fulfilled and a refund would be provided. As it turns out, when the cake was ordered, we gave the merchant a picture of the cake we wanted, and were provided a price. We then paid half of the cost of the cake and given a receipt. A few days after the cake was purchased, we were told that the price given was too low and that there was a discrepancy between the cashier who took our order and the bakery that makes the cake. The price was actually similar to a price we paid last year for a similar cake made by a different merchant (who wasnât available again this year to make the cake). We politely told the merchant we had provided a picture of the cake explaining what we wanted, given a price, and paid half the price with a receipt in hand. The conversation ended with the impression that the cake would still be made as initially agreed upon. A few days before the birthday party, the owner of the business called us and told us that he could not fulfill the order and would issue us a refund. Instead of fulfilling a commitment they would rather lose a customer. The service was unprofessional, and the merchant didn't...
