Their attentive staff provides exceptional service that's both professional and friendly.
What really sets West End apart is their attention to detail - from the carefully curated playlist creating the perfect background atmosphere to their thoughtful presentation of each dish. Read moreI wanted to like this place and struggled to do so. It is trying so hard to be hip and delicious. The menu is rather uninspired and after perusing it closely I was unable to find something that excited me. It seemed to be all over the place relying on trends as opposed to focusing on making a dish amazing.
The ahi tartar started out well enough. The combination of spicy mayo, tuna and avocado was tasty. The serving with deep fried won ton was a nice touch.
However, the seared ahi was a huge swing and a miss. The sauce served alongside was basic teriyaki and the cabbage was basically uneatable. I love a good pickled vegetable and cabbage but this was not it. To add insult it was served with golden chopsticks under the food. Actually quite a faux pas with Asian foods.
The Wagyu burger was underwhelming although I will say that the brioche bu was delicious. The mini pickle served alongside was the smallest spear of pickle I have ever had.
Finally, the fingerling truffle potatoes were cut inappropriately for deep frying. The were chopped and deep fried and this were too large and not delicious. Hint: try smashing the potatoes and then deep frying. This will creat smaller edges to crisp and add texture to your side dish.
West End gets 2 stars for food thanks to the ahi tartar.
If the price was in the $40-50 range I wouldn't have been disappointed. However, this disappointing meal cost $73 without any sort of cocktail or drink.
I'm sorry but for that price point I expect to be satisfied.
I cannot recommend this restaurant and I hope they figure...
