Uptown Parthenon — Restaurant in West Bloomfield Township

I ordered some catering, trays of spinach pies, stuffed grape leaves and meatballs and they were the hit of the party! Rave reviews! People who were dieting went crazy over the food because it was so worth the calories! The lemon sauce on the grape leaves is incredible. Their Tzadiki sauce is so delicious, we compared it side by side with another -Uptown's was better hands down, more flavorful, thicker, fresher tasting! And the service from when my order was taken to picking it up - could not have been more positive of an experience. Everyone there is helpful friendly and fantastic! Even Chef Tony came out to help me with my choices and took care of me beyond my wildest expectations. When I place my order I decided I was hungry and sat down at the bar to order an appetizer plate and a beer. That was a great decision on my part! Everything was exceptional and perfectly seasoned! The gyro meat is the thickest I have had, texture and spicing made it the best I've ever had!! The best "Culinary Adventure" I have had in I can't remember how long! I was happy to see Uptown Parthenon re-opened for carryouts. I've been dining here for 15+ years, hosted a 50 year anniversary party and my rehearsal dinner party as well. This place was a must visit on a monthly visit because of the good food and outstanding service we received from our favorite waiter, Dino.

I had purchased a gift certificate prior to the C-19 crisis and I was eager for the opportunity to use it. I ordered $120.00 worth of food yesterday. When I tried to pay in part with my gift certificate, the manager told me "This is fake. Anyone could have written this." When I objected and told him I've been a long time customer, he agreed to speak to the "new owner" about it. The "new owner" offered me 50% of the value. I was disappointed, but I accepted the offer.

When i found this place and had great experiences there, I went out of my way to tell friends and family about it. After yesterday's experience, I will make it my job to discourage people from going here. I hope the $37.50 you beat me out of was worth it. Under the current state of America, I am very saddened to make this review in regard to this restaurant. I came to pick up an order and as they were only nine people in the entire restaurant eight being at one table and one being at the bar, the front desk man came to the front desk, never addressing me three times over on the fourth time , I finally waived to him to get his attention as he acted as though I was never standing there for over five minutes who then addressed me with “what”. To my surprise, I stated that I was here for a pick up as he spoke back to me with a toothpick in his mouth. He said well I’m busy and walked off. At that time I just wanted to walk away but I had already purchased the order.

Finally, after waiting for almost ten minutes someone came out to give me my order. This is so very disappointing. Needless to say I will not be ordering from this restaurant ever again as this is clearly what they want. They clearly only want a certain demographic giving them business and if you are not that race then they do not want you there and if you come there they will treat you poorly to let you know they do not want your business.
