This is not a review for Cold Stone the company but for this location specifically. Cold Stone ice cream, at every other location is why I cant even eat the slop that dairy queen sells. Its delicious, rich and fatty.
I've gone to this location 7 times and without fail, there are 3-4 girls in their early to mid 20s working there that are the textbook definition of ennui. I understand a seemingly infinite line of gluttonous Americans can be overwhelming when they'd prefer to be scrolling the seemingly infinite short attention span videos on TikTok and Instagram, furthering their disassociative adhd personalities and talking about their bodycounts, but this is a job in customer service as well as serving diabetes. I'll watch them in line for 30 minutes and not one second of that time was a smile or a single act other than what do you want, then making the slop with the most dramatic lazy malaise. I'm sure the pay is awful, the conditions are lousy but take a page from Dutch bros and build a fun community of faking niceness and happiness til you make it. I'm sure paying $1500 a month to live in grimy salem is awful but radiating that depression isnt what I expect from Cold stone creamery.
Oh, and the cleanliness is so bad. When I order ice cream, im test tasting every persons ice cream order from earlier in the day because they'll scrap the counter but never wipe or disinfect. I've never noticed a filthier counter at any of the multiple Cold stones I've been at. Even their curtains for their windows have ice cream all over them and they look several years old. Appetizing. There must be zero management happening at this location and it's like Gen Z Lord...
Read moreWell Cold Stone is Cold Stone. Unfortunately, at this store the staff was totally checked out to anyone who wasn't having ice cream mixed.
The employees were totally lethargic and borderline disoriented, unlike my other visits to this location a couple years ago, and I don't know what's happened between then and now. We had no greeting upon coming in, we were there 5 minutes, again, no greeting, no 'I'll be right with you', not even a sideways glance our way. They appeared to be averting their eyes from us, they were not even engaged with the people ahead of us getting ice cream, they seemed totally uninterested in being there.
It was as though they went out of their way to make sure they didn't look at us, while I don't think that was their intention, they clearly need retraining on people skills and customer service, this location might even need new management, because it's usually a management issue. Not being rude isn't good enough, when you go into a store or restaurant you not only pay for the food, but the experience, and no one wants to feel like their stepping into pot shop with people stoned out of their minds unless it's actually pot shop, not an ice cream store.
Due to the weird lethargic atmosphere, we ended up leaving after that also because we couldn't get our questions answered to decide if we were even getting ice...
