We usually go to a Chinese food restaurant on Christmas Day, but we're in Salem this year and could not locate one that was open for dine-in. So, we tried this Thai place. The food was good. The only complaint I have about the food is about the greasiness of the potstickers. They were pretty oily and then came on wax paper which just allowed them to pool in grease, so I put them on my only napkin, which absorbed a load of grease immediately. It looked pretty dirty, too. This was not appetizing.
The portions were large, and the entrees were tasty. I had pad Thai with chicken and it was good. I asked for medium heat and I consider the heat less than mild....I noticed nothing in the way of spice. It is hard to judge what to ask for at a place for the first time. My husband had sweet and sour chicken. The chicken pieces were huge! See the photo to verify. The bowl is huge, like a very large dinner plate. The chicken was crispy and really covered in sauce, if that is your thing. For him, it was a it much toward the end.
The service was very good. Our waitress was attentive, kind and accurate. We appreciate that she worked on Christmas Day.
One suggestion for the owners...drop the cafeteria-type lighting. It is very stark and not relaxing in there. Chill the mood out a bit with lower, softer lights. The lighting, as well as the decor, cheapens the place a bit. Updating the decor would go a long way. I say this just to assist. Walk in and look at every wall, corner, table, the floor...can it be updated, cleaned, changed? Use a fresh eye and consider...
Read moreI say this as a person without a disability, but I was really impressed with the accessibility features of the theater. The hallways and spaces all seem pretty wide (although the main hallway does have an incline), even the rows between seats leave plenty of room - no awkward shuffling past other patrons. The seats are very comfortable. Matinee ticket prices are affordable, though of course I spent too much on concessions! Staff were great, the space was clean. Don’t worry about being early - the brand ads were still going five minutes past showtime, and then another 15 minutes of previews after that. I will definitely go back to this theater!
Edited to add: Staff at this location have AMAZING customer service. When the couple in front of me at concessions had an issue with the plastic drink lids not fitting on their commemorative cups, the team member on register and a manager tested every other lid to find the best fit (icee!). Then after purchasing my own concessions, I stepped to the side to wait for friends. I tucked into the last concession nook which was not in service. While leaning against the wall, two managers checked on me to make sure I wasn't waiting for help. The managers were also working behind the registers to get sodas filled and concessions out. I am SO impressed by the...
Read moreOn Saturday September 7th, I went to go watch the 11:00am showing of IT Chapter 2 at the Willamette Town Center Regal Cinema. We had purchased our tickets beforehand from the app, and when we got inside were met with an employee. The employee –Clayton- asked me to display an ID before he even knew the movie we were going to watch. While IT Chapter 2 is rated R, I am 25 and look my age so there was no need for the ID check. Next however, he asked to check my purse, something I have never before had to get checked at any Regal Cinema, I complied with this and opened my purse and he began to question me about smaller and middle pockets to check for “weapons and contraband”. We later noticed the same employee was allowing individuals with the same size or larger bags to go ahead to the movies without bag checks. We spoke to a manager about this and while we understand it is a new policy to check bags, he said this is only necessary when the individual looks “suspicious”. I want to know what was suspicious about my purse in particular when others had bags that seemed fine to him. I would appreciate it if I received a reply back as I felt disrespected, and embarrassed to the point of tears from having to have experienced being racially profiled in...
