This is DEFINITELY a place you just gotta try out, even if you're just passing through the area, don't forget to add this stop to your trip!!! Call ahead if you want a dozen or more, they're a small buisness and want to be able to accommodate everyone, but they'll have no problem setting your order aside so you get exactly what you want, in the quantity you want. Absolutely the very best doughnuts I've ever had in my life, AND they're sold at great prices too, which is awesome! (cause i'm a disabled single mom of two, so i appreciate that i can treat my girls to this) Excellent customer service, a bright happily colored buisness, all nice, clean, homey, and cheerful. When I moved to the area, I took my 2 young girls out to explore Depoe Bay, and we found ourselves a little peaceful retreat from the stresses of life. We were welcomed to the community by the employees, Ray, and his wife. They were so very kind to us, and I now consider them to be a very friendly neighbor. RAY'S DOUGHNUT RECIPE IS SOMETHING VERY SPECIAL AND UNIQUE. The flavour of the dough is unlike any other out there. This is my favorite Sunday treat now, to share with my girls. It's something for them to remember and cherish when I'm gone. A box of our favorite doughnuts, and a pleasant place to sit and play a game or two together. I love the personal attention that Ray gives his customers. Very friendly staff who know us by name now. ā” And, since I'm chronically ill, and usually am unable to get up and out of the house in time to get our favorite doughnuts, I just call in our order the night before, and they hold it aside for me to pick up at my leisure. I truely appreciate that. These doughnuts are so amazing, infact, that when my birthday came this last year, I knew EXACTLY what I wanted for my cake, and had be envisioning it for over 6 months. Ray made me 50 glazed doughnut holes (which are heavenly, my girls call them poofs, because they are so incredibly light and airy that they literally "poof" when you bite into them and they almost melt in your mouth). I took my specially ordered box of doughnut holes and assembled a doughnut hole tower, which I then added fresh cut strawberries to, all around, and then drizzled the tower with a little nutella, put a candle on top, and... voila, the best birthday cake ever. And it was a HUGE hit with everyone. You really can't go wrong, every doughnut I've ever had at the Depoe Baykery has been amazing. So go treat yourself. You won't...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOver the years my wife and I have stopped in here several times. I do not know if we are experiencing a phenomena due to the current pandemic situation; but, it seems recently that people working in the food, beverage & hospitality industries are no longer concerned about customer service, the quality of their product/service or being friendly with customers. Usually, there is a man and woman (a couple) who work there (I believe they are the owners) and they are usually friendly and the quality of the bakery items are really good. This time, there were two women working; and neither were very friendly. The one who was getting the items we asked for from the display cases could have sold us more items if she had been remotely interested in being there. But, I don't think she wanted to be there either. The selection was limited when we went in during the late morning hours; and one of the items I purchased was a bag of coconut cookies. The edge of the cookies were pretty crispy, which I doubt was intentional, but they tasted okay. I would have bought some peanut butter cookies, but the tops of the cookies were blackened from what appeared to be baking them too long and/or too hot of heat. I also tried a sugar/cinnamon coated marionberry fritter and my wife got a marionberry fritter without the sugar/cinnamon coating. My recommendation is do not get their fritters with the sugar/cinnamon coating. They are drier and do not have as much flavor as a traditional glazed fritter. Cookies weren't that good this time either. My wife also got a sailor jerry and it was okay, but not as good as other bakeries. So, even though in the past we have stopped here several times and got great pastries and a friendly chat with the proprietors, this time it was...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMom and I come to the bakery every time we visit Lincoln City. The donuts are amazing. Super fresh. Even the ones that are day old are moist and yummy. We have had our share of grumpy employees - everyone has their bad days and that's totally okay. BUT today was awful. The woman that helped us was very snappy, condescending, and overall a total grouch. Context: We called ahead to have some donuts reserved because we didn't want them to run out. This is something we have done every time as we learned quickly that the donuts are so yummy they run out. The lady on the phone was a bit crabby, but we assumed that was because it was early in the day on a holiday weekend and the "coast garage sale" weekend. It's a stressful and busy weekend! The woman didn't ask when we would be in and almost forgot to get our name. Interaction: Arrived to pick up the donuts, told the name we had them under, was told, "I put them back because you didn't show up! Lucky no one else bought them. You said you'd be over in a few!" We replied, "We said we would be in later to pick them up. We are sorry for the miscommunication." She continued making snotty remarks and condescending comments. We are frustrated, hurt, disappointed, and appalled by the way she treated us. Never have we ever had this bad of an experience. 1 star for service, additional star because the donuts are great as always. Won't be making effort in the future to...
