Anya's Kitchen — Restaurant in Orinda

A big concerns was the sight of the person with beard who was preparing our food was also engaging in floor cleaning duties simultaneously. This disregard for hygiene practices was truly unsettling.

The chicken dish I received was severely overcooked and chicken was too dry and chewy . Unfortunately, the same lack of quality extended to all other dishes as well, which appeared to be frozen, reheated, or potentially leftovers from a previous day.

To compound the disappointment, the food I ordered with a mild spice level turned out to be excessively spicy and salty.

Regrettably, I cannot recommend this establishment. The inadequate food quality, questionable hygiene, and the considerable disparity between the exorbitant prices and the value provided make it an unwise...

Ordered take out with the chana masala, paneer tikka masala, and mixed vegetable with a side of garlic naan. Unfortunately the chana masala was sweet and so was the paneer tikka masala. These two dishes should not have sweetness and the chana specifically tasted like it had too much tamarind sauce or something and had what tasted like sweet pickled onions -- again, not what you would expect in a chana masala. The paneer was also quite sweet, which might be fine for a paneer makhani, but isn't the right flavor for paneer tikka masala. The mixed vegetable was pretty bland and was lacking some serious spice (not heat... just spice).

Overall, pretty disappointing and with such high quality Indian food in the area, I'm not sure I...

This cozy spot in Orinda felt just like being in a friend's kitchen. Anya's has a small space with an open kitchen, so you can watch them prepare your food. The dishes are authentic and tasty, especially the Aloo Gobi, which was the best I've had in a while.

But what really stood out at Anya's was the friendly staff. We had a nice chat with one of the chefs about our favorite Indian dishes. He even mentioned a paneer dish he loved, although it wasn't on the menu, he wanted to share and made it for us on the spot. It was delish and I’ll be back to try any more off menu...
