Nostalgia, childhood joy and the pie make Nation's Giant Hamburger a must-go for my sister and I a few times each year. Dietary restrictions prevent additional visits. While I'm loathe to admit there are certainly brighter flavors, more unique combinations and fresher tasting burgers - even at this price point - in our local area, a purely clinical approach to rating this "burger joint" would be a crime. We both still still vividly recall the once sky-high cheeseburger we would share as small children, dripping down our tiny hands, as we joyfully tried to navigate it during our special occasion visits. The hairnet clad staff so kindly cut it in half for us every time. They carefully double wrapped it in white paper... cheese always melted it nearly impenetrably closed. Grilled onions deliciously scented the restaurant as we ate. If we managed to consume our ENTIRE burger and fries, Mom rewarded us with a few bites of our family shared ginormous slice of pie. The four of us took turns choosing the flavor. I recall it was a whole quarter pie!! All of these things are still available to cherish at each of our local Nation's. While we do miss Mom and our old Palos Verdes Nation's, the fries are still crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. The soda is still self-serve and on tap. The ketchup and BBQ sauce is still via pump and tiny paper cups. Burgers are still juicy, piled high with garden fresh lettuce and tomato, and served in white paper on white plastic plates. They're still messy too. If you're looking for a five star burger restaurant, you may find fault. If you've considered returning from a long absence, don't hesitate. There's something magical about a thing that remains un-ruined by time. Also, don't overlook your Nation's for an excellent 1970's bacon, egg, hashbrown and toast with jam breakfast as it was meant to be.👍Thank you Russ...

Read moreI hate to admit it but it's probably been 15+ years since I ate @ Nations! Unfortunately, I don't work or live near any locations.
I was in Orinda and I saw a Nation's! Wow, I was so excited! I ordered a cheese burger with grilled onions and a whole double crust apple pie online. No wait to pick up my order.
They both were so delicious! The cheeseburger was juicy and cheese was oozing everywhere. Sorry no picture of the 🍔. The pie crust was flaky and the apples were tart and fresh.
I forgotten how tasty the food is at Nation's. I'll...
