Don's Hot Dogs — Restaurant in Orland Township

I went there for the first time today and I ordered the food online. I was already in the area so I arrived early knowing I would have to wait a bit. The owner at the register was upset because the system was updating so he couldn’t take my order. I told him that’s great because I had an online order. He got mad at me because I didn’t wait for them to confirm my online order before showing up. I told him that I knew I was early and I was more than willing to wait and it was no problem. He threw the paper to the kitchen staff and told them to take care of it and he doesn’t have time. He was pretty much rude to every single customer that walked in there and yelled at them if they talked too fast while ordering. The kitchen staff were younger kids which is fine. I worked at Johnny’s Wee Nee wagon when I was 15 and I know how the customer service industry is. He took care of my order and brought it out to me but I had to go back up and ask for my fries. Then I realized I never got the cups for my drinks and I just left without them because I didn’t want to talk to the guy again. Food wasn’t worth it. Updated. Tried Don’s again… I ordered 4 hotdogs, large fry, 2 cheese cups, and an onion ring… paid $30!!!!! What the heck?!? My son couldn’t eat the hot dogs. When I looked why?! … I seen how wrinkly the dog was. Gross!!!

So, I don’t think I’ll be coming back to this joint again. Gross food, over priced, and the food literally sucks!!!

Came here after a long day of work for a quick dinner. Was interested in the 2 Hot Dog Special with fry. (No drink). It was $9.99. See picture?! I ended up paying $11.42 for this $9.99 Two Hot Dog Special. After I paid and realizing the numbers don’t match, I asked one of the kids.. and he said that they must not have updated it in the register. I’m like ?? Apparently what I’m thinking, is that I paid with my card (doesn’t state on my receipt that I was charged card surcharge). But their prices do not match. No wonder why they are always closed. I’m so disappointed and sad to say I will never eat at dons hotdog again. This new owner is a tool and quality sucks and atmosphere sucks. I never see any original staff anymore and I wonder why. I’ve been coming here since I was 12 years old, I even started taking my daughters here years ago. Ever since they changed ownership the love and passion has left this once great place. Knowing from the little interactions I’ve had from with the owner, these reviews won’t matter. I work with the original owners family member and I report to them all the time lately that this new owner is disgraceful and ruining the Don’s name. Our community that fell in love with the Don’s we once knew needs to get this joke of an owner out of here. Please I think it’s time us OG customers take a stand and not return to this place and remember the good experience...
