We ate at that place for lunch to try it out. They advertise Venezuelan & Colombian food. The food we ordered was good, but not great since we found it to be a little salty. We eat in Latin Cafes & Restaurants frequently and I would say their food is a little above average. If we were only rating the food, we would give them a 3-4 stars rating.
The other issue was lack of cleanliness. We always worry about what the back kitchen area looks like if the front is so filthy. Our table was covered with a dirty sticky substance and so were the ones around. So, we were left to get some cleaner and clean the table ourselves. It also bothered us that the girl taking our order was drinking coffee while taking our order, taking sips in between our comments. She remained on her cell phone the whole time while we were eating, which would not have been that big of a deal, but at least peek up once in a while to see if your customers might need something else.
These two issues would not be the deal breakers for us. They can be resolved with a little closer attention to detail.
The real problem is the prices! (I noticed this is a problem with others as well.) They are high to begin with, then they add an additional 15% gratuity. This is for them to take your order, and call your name when the food is ready for you to pick up at the counter. So, what are we getting for the 15%? Be honest and just raise your prices higher! Also, when you go to pay, there is an opportunity to pay more. If you are not paying attention, you may end up paying more than the 15% just to be called to pick up your food! Also, it is not really an eat-in place since everything is plastic on trays like a cheap cafeteria. If you only want water, bring your own as they do not have the ability to give water other than to buy it. Our bill came to almost $40.00. Very high for this caliber of a place. This will be the downfall of this place if they do not change...
Read moreAs stated by several other customers in google: The business adds a service fee of 15% to all orders. Cashier DOES NOT STATE THAT UPFRONT. It will be ok to charge the service fee if the cashier states that upfront, because then you add not to tip. But they don't state it, and then present you with a screen for tips that starts at 18% (yes I know you can put a custom fee) . They charge the service fee but still they don't take the food the table. They take the tips after it and they don't even seem to appreciate it. Also this approach of 15% service fee (when there is NO SERVICE) its not standard approach in the USA. You are surprise by it. I am a Venezuelan, and I like to eat venezuelan food. I also like to support business that portray some of the venezuelan culture. I have visited many Venezuelan locations here in Orlando and in every city I visit. I have never been treated this BAD. In terms of the flavor of the food and size it was ok. I think a little overpriced but not for much. More important than the quality of the food is the service. Here the service is VERY BAD. Service is not just speaking softly, politely or presenting a smily face. This is expected and not for a FEE. Service includes transparency which is expected and not for a FEE. Taking the order is expected and not for a FEE. If you want to charge a service fee, then provides a service like taking the order on the table, and bring the food to the table. DO SOMETHING. I will not eat here again. Also, I will make sure that my Venezuelans and Colombians frieds know about this service fee issue. Which is bad for the restaurant because we are a big business coming back to work to the office and we're close by. I am sorry girls, but you need to improve. Also, this is not the first comment on the same...
Read moreWent there yesterday, the cashier was not happy to see the presences of customers, we ordered the Venezuelan Empanadas not bad I give it a 3 star , as i was telling the cashier what we wanted I had to tell her 3 times and she still asked us again and again what kind of shake we wanted like she didn't understand Spanish. So much for ordering the mango/milk batido, tasted like soap, either they didn't wash the blender the right way or the milk was bad. The mango taste frozen like it had been in the freezer for years. Another thing I found nasty. As a cook you are allowed to taste what you cook, no doubt about it but with a tasting spoon, but when you are a cook and you are eating empanadas with the cashier and the cook still has gloves on and shes indulging that empanada in front of customers I find that disgusting has I stood in the front door looking at her eating she didn't care that i had seen her eating with gloves on and the cashier coughed all over the espresso machine while making this ladies coffee. I wonder what the health department would tell them if they get caught. Never going...
