The Nerdy MillennialThe Nerdy Millennial
I stopped in for a late lunch while I took a break from the parks in the heat. I always try to eat here at least once every time I come to Universal on vacation. The past couple of years I wasn't able to eat here because my budget was super tight and when I found out they updated the menu I knew I had to this time. My server was Trevor and he was very nice and accommodating with adjustments I needed to make with my order. I also really appreciate that even though I was the only person at the table he didn't try to rush me out. I wasn't in the mood for anything super heavy so I just stuck to the appetizer section of the menu. I ordered the tuna poke the calamari which were so good that if it weren't for the fact that I still had half a day in the parks ahead of me I would have taken a second order of both back to my hotel! The tuna poke was nice and chilled with lots of flavor but not overly marinated (some places drown their poke in lots of marinade) and was very refreshing. It normally comes with wasabi and red onions in it but I told him to leave that out and he made sure it was made to my liking. The wonton chips that came with it were very light, airy, and crunchy but not at all oily and it even came with a lime on the side to squeeze onto the fish. This was my first time putting lime juice on my poke and it added a nice citrus flavor which enhanced the flavor of the poke. The calamari was fried to the perfect texture and there was only a little bit of light breading on it and it wasn't super oily or salty which is a nice change compared to most other calamari that I have had over the years. It was served with marinara sauce on the plate and a half of a lemon which was charred on the grill which in my opinion makes the lemon flavor better. You can tell that all the ingredients are super fresh and everything was simple but prepared right (lots of ingredients doesn't always make a dish better). Even though I have always loved this place and eating here is a tradition for me I have to say that they have definitely improved since the last time I dined here and on my next trip to the parks I will definitely try more things on the menu. There are lots of sit down options on the Universal Studios Resort property, however I highly recommend you choose Lombard's as one of your options during your vacation! I can't wait to come back!

We had dinner at Lombards during a recent trip to Universal on a Monday. We had a party of 4 including 2 kids. The restaurant was fairly empty. The decor and atmosphere was good and we had a view of the water. The kids loved the large round centerpiece fish tank in the dining area. Our waiter was prompt and pleasant. We ordered calamari and a Caesar salad for appetizers. The salad was a large head of romaine split in half, dressed with grated Parmesan. It’s a visually appealing presentation but does not allow for a thorough washing of the lettuce and therefore gnats can sometimes be found within the lettuce leaves, as was the case with my salad. The calamari was ok. My husband and one son love seafood which led to us choosing to do dinner here. They were out of mussels (their favorite) and out of the cioppino (another favorite). He ended up ordering a steak (not what he would’ve preferred but it was that or the usual suspects of salmon or lobster). The steak was mediocre at best. The temp was over and it almost tasted broiled. The mashed potatoes tasted like nothing. I ordered the sea bass and was not impressed. Salt and sear well would have done it wonders. It came with a bit of bok choy, a few mushrooms and a few snow peas. The flavor was okay but nothing impressive. I had a feeling it would be lacking and ordered a side of rice. We ordered wine to go with our meal and my glass looked like it was barely cleaned. Ultimately I was greatly disappointed in this meal. The menu needs a massive overhaul (go outside of the usual suspects/comfort zone) and the kitchen needs to learn to love food again (cook like you’re going to be eating it). I would not return.

What a beautiful spot! Surrounded by water with a gorgeous view, this restaurant is somehow in the center of the park and yet completely tucked away in its own corner with a feel of a true small Harbour. The indoor decor is lovely, charming and truly feels like a lavish steamboat from the turn of the century. The service was fantastic! Very charismatic host and a knowledgeable server. The food itself was the let down… the menu still boasts it has bread service. It does not. A huge disappointment for a table service restaurant such as this. A French onion soup and New England clam chowder soup was to start. The French onion soup was beefy, rich and warm, covered in an amount of cheese that could, indeed, be too much for some. Not me! The bread was thick so that again is up to debate on preference. Not mine in this case. The clam chowder was gelatinous and the clams were hard to find. It was merely a forgettable soup. The shrimp Alfredo was a large potion with giant shrimp. However it lacked flavor. Completely bland with almost no texture. The noodles were soggy and extra limp with no bite. The sauce needed seasoning and tossed in a larger portion to make the noodles worth eating. For the price and quality of food you get, I would say this place is not worth the visit BUT the view and atmosphere is a delight and a great spot in a stunning building with cool A/C that gives the wary theme park goer a much needed break!

First time at Lombard's Seafood Grill and I'd heard so many great things about this place.

I visited with friends and we were seated very quickly. We had a reservation, but were able to be seated before our reservation time. Visibly, the restaurant was not busy. It's decorated nicely with aquatic decor and they had a few nice Christmas decorations up.

They took us upstairs to the priority dining on the patio and our server came to greet us and grab our drink orders fairly quickly. They were out of tea, hot chocolate and other hot drinks they listed on the menu, so I ended up running downstairs for a hot tea. Our server said it would be about 20-30 minutes for the entrees to come out, so the two of us who ordered soup asked that it come out as apps. All food was ordered with drinks. We asked for seasoning and lemons on the side.

We ordered 2 French onion soups, one Fisherman's platter, and one order of the fish tacos.

We sat, waited and conversed.. and waited...

It took 40 minutes for the fisherman's platter and fish tacos. No soups in site. The person who brought the food out was not our server and when she asked if we had anything, we mentioned the soup, she checked on them and those came out about 10 minutes later. One was sent back due to the fact that it came out way too late.

Still no sign of our server, since we had to remind him about the lemons we ordered.

A manager came out to check on the tables and when she came to our table, we aired our grievances, but we didn't feel where there was an attempt to make things right, she just went to grab our server.. he didn't even know what was on the table and started making excuses for the kitchen.

We were extremely disappointed in the unprofessionalism in service we experienced. At no point did any person apologize or admit to any mistakes, but just blame other people they worked with. We finally were able to negotiate down a compensation, but it was forced more than it should have been.

When we left the partially empty restauraunt, our server was chatting with a cohort, which makes me wonder if this is what he was doing the whole 40 minutes we were waiting for our food and the 20 minues after we got our food?

Would I come back? Possibly, in hopes that there are servers/managers there who appreciate the job and have better customer service. Otherwise, the...
