Normally, I don’t write reviews, but today I have to because the service was terrible. My family ordered a few appetizers along with our main dishes, and the staff never asked us about drinks. They made us wait for quite a while. Most of our main dishes came out. As for the appetizers, we waited almost an hour, and by the time we finished our main courses, the appetizers still hadn’t arrived.
I had to ask the server multiple times, and they kept saying “2-3 more minutes,” but obviously, it had been way longer than that. The main dishes were okay, decent. I ordered “Bánh Bèo” and “Trứng Lòng Non Cháy Tỏi” as appetizers—do those two dishes really take that long to prepare? Meanwhile, a table near us ordered “Bánh Khọt” and got their food before us? And we were still told to wait “2-3 minutes”?
At the beginning, we ordered “Bột Chiên.” After about 2-3 minutes, I asked if we could change the dish, and the server said they would check but never got back to us. Then about 15 minutes later, they brought out the “Bột Chiên” and said the kitchen had already made it so we couldn’t change the order—which I was fine with because we had ordered it. But the other two appetizers? They kept saying “2-3 minutes,” and in the end, I couldn’t keep waiting because it was ridiculous how other tables got their food while we were still waiting on just two appetizers. When I finally canceled them, the server just agreed immediately. So what does that mean? That they completely forgot about our food and still made us wait over 45 minutes?
The staff was lacked basic service skills. If the place had been packed, I wouldn’t be complaining—but when we walked in, there were only 1 or 2 tables, and they were already being served. What baffled me the most was that our main dishes came out first, we finished eating, and were still waiting on the appetizers that took forever. If you forgot the dishes, just say so—I would have canceled earlier. But instead, you made us wait nearly 45 minutes? Terrible service. The...
Read moreOut of all restaurants I have had across the US, this gem HAS to be one of my top favorite Vietnamese restaurants. If you’re looking for authentic Vietnamese dishes with a very cozy ambience and amazing waiters, this is the place that you’re looking for!
I’m not too fond of writing reviews, but if I do intend to compose a review for a restaurant, I have great reasons to do so. The shop itself is a cozy size with adequate seating space, whether you want to enjoy the food outside or inside the restaurant. They even have another section of the restaurant that caters Vietnamese snacks that are prepped in-house! The music is as good as the food, so no complaints there. The waiters are extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and fast. I wish I had asked for their names before I left because I wanted to thank them personally, but I was very thankful for their care!
The food was outstanding and I say this with harsh critique. Everyone wants to say that there is nothing like mom’s cooking, but I stand by that when you can say that your mom can actually cook…I never realized how great my mom’s cooking truly was until I began eating other familial cooking or just eating out more often after leaving my parents. Pho 2 Tô really impressed me not with just the variety of options on its menu, but the quality of its dishes was beyond what I was anticipating. Other Vietnamese folks in the reviews or others might tell you otherwise, but I can promise you that this is as authentic as it gets when it comes to a true Vietnamese dish. You won’t find this quality or culinary art anywhere close to this in the US without paying a premium, or even being reluctant to finding another place like this.
Overall, I was glad to have the privilege of bringing out my friends and family to Pho 2 Tô. I will absolutely be coming back and so will the rest of them. Thank you for the memorable...
Read moreAlmost 10 minutes to be seated cuz the hostess wasn’t there. Then, “seat anywhere”. Another couple of minutes passed and this couple that just arrived were seated and the girl inmediately gave them the menu. We weren’t seated and nobody offered the menu. The girl disappeared. She seemed busy, like no one else was working there as server. This behavior seemed completely rude. I was looking forward trying the food. We just stood up and left to Mamak crossing the street where we were greeted with a smile. On a Wednesday at 2.30pm.
Edit(Answer to the restaurant):
Thank you for your response. First of all, you need to actually review your cameras, as you said that we were escorted to the table and provided the menu which was not the case. This happened yesterday around 2.30pm. You can double-check for me and my husband, both hispanic and wearing black. The girl told us to come in and sit wherever (we sat at a table next to the window in the corner). We never even saw the menu. We nevertheless saw how after we sat ourselves, the girl sat a different couple and inmediately handed them a menu. Second, it is not my job to ask to be served. How come I have to stand up and look for the server in order to get the menus and get my order taken? It was only her serving guests and a boy behind the counter which didn’t seem like a server. Third, I did mention another place, because that’s where we went after such a disappointing experience in this restaurant. I have no affiliation with them, I simply like sharing restaurant reviews - as you can check in my profile where I often post reviews of where I eat. What really raises questions, is the fact that you said we were escorted and handed the menu which is a complete lie. I don’t see why I would be saying things that didn’t happen. I don’t gain anything out of this, other than offering my...
