Second bad experience at this location and definitely won’t be back again. I used to go to the Longwood Banfield before I moved Downtown and had no issues! However the Mills staff is passive aggressive, the wait times are insane and the vet never even speaks to you. Not only that, but each time just felt like a shakedown for cash. Waited 4+ hours for a scheduled appt and ended up picking him up before they could even do an exam only to find my dog wet in his own pee and terrified. Full details below on both visits but overall, stay away and try a diff location!!
Visit #1: Took my dog for a check up and routine vaccines and the staff was super unfriendly, pressured me multiple times to try and sign off on shots and extra things he didn’t need, and guilt tripped me when I said no. Also never spoke to a vet after the exam despite them supposedly having found some concerns. No follow ups either. Already had a bad taste in my mouth after this experience and only returned over a year later because it was mildly urgent.
Visit #2: Took my dog today for a mildly urgent skin/urinary concern and made an appointment for 12:30 pm. Arrived 30 minutes early and got called into a waiting room where I met with a vet tech to fill out paperwork. They didn’t even looked at my dog or ask what the issue was before trying to get me to sign off on shots and tests (again, the vet hadn’t even seen him yet!) She threw out a bunch of price quotes and wanted me to agree before taking him to see the DR for an exam. I politely told her I’d like to wait for the exam to decide the best course of action. She agreed and asked if it was ok if I just left him instead of waiting to see the vet. I agreed and left him in their care.
I hadn’t heard anything after 1.5 hours so I tried calling but when they answered the phone the first thing they said was “if this isn’t an emergency can I put you on hold?” - I said sure and sat on hold for 6+ minutes before giving up. Finally after FOUR HOURS I called again and told them I’d like to just pick up mg dog. Of course THEN the vet (Dr Q) finally gets on, seems super irritated and uninterested, and starts spewing off that they were able to get a “free urine sample” (aka he peed in the kennel and they could collect it) but that she still recommends a professional urine test and ultrasound “just in case” and once again price quoted me.
I was shocked because they said they’d call before running tests so when I asked she admitted she HADN’T EVEN EXAMINED HIM YET. My dog sat in a kennel alone for 4 hours, peed all over himself, and it wasn’t until I called to pick him up that they even considered starting his exam. Yet all the while wanted me to sign off and pay for tests.
I ended up deciding to just pick him up and deny the exam even though I still have a very real concern for my dogs health. When I picked him up no one spoke to me, apologized, or explained the situation.
Overall incredibly unprofessional, and borderline abusive. What’s the point of making an appt if you drop them off and they don’t get seen for 4+ hours? So long to the point he peed on himself (he was all wet when I picked him up) and was so excited to see me because he seemed absolutely frightened by the staff. I’ll likely be driving all the way out to longwood or finding a private vet and ditching the Banfield franchise...
Read moreYesterday we took our cat to the Mills Avenue Banfield location for a comprehensive exam. The nurse there could not take any blood sample and recommended that we take the cat home and give it a sedative because apparently the cat wasn’t being cooperative. We had informed them that the cat is not keeping any food down. It’s having problems with hairballs, so getting a medication oral medication would not be helpful for this cat because it could just throw it back up when we got home we realized us we had to make a appointment with another Banfield location with a doctor we’ve dealt with in the past because we weren’t confident in the Mills Avenue location when we call the Mills Avenue location to try to get our money back that they charged us for a visit and for the medication we were met with hostility and rudeness from the front desk lady , Her name is Mimi ! She hung up on me after I wanted to talk with manager . They agreed to refund the office visit after vet talked with them but not the medication even though we have no use for it and we just spent $80 on it for no reason because our cat is not in a condition to have oral meds we made an appointment with the Sand lake Orlando Banfield ,They were able to see the cat take the blood run all the test with no problems that the Banfield in Mills Avenue could not figure out how to do and they labeled our cat as aggressive and uncooperative, which, according to the Banfield in Sand Lake, they had no issues they had an issue with sedative, but the cat was very friendly. We are loyal customer of Banfield with our previous cats since many years but we are not happy with the way we are treated and we would like to be refunded medication that is not useful for us and that is expensive and we just signed up for a plan at the sand lake location for a pet in addition and we’re kind of wondering why that is because we called the Banfield on Mills again to try to see how we get our money back for the medication and the front desk lady the same lady was rude again ! We are not happy with the customer service at the Banfield on Mills Avenue. Go to...
Read moreI had numerous problems with Banfield. I have an annual plan and they won't let me out without paying so called services that I used and charge me for almost all the remaining payments. We have a toy Maltese weighing around 4 pounds. Initially she was prescribed for a medicine for fleas. After using this medication for over a year they called me and told me that she shouldn't have used the pills and they will let me know once they find the correct replacement. I was charged for the months while they were trying to figure out what to do and I had to call them a few times. Then they continued to chage me for a new medicine which I never received but they will claim that it was shipped... Another one; we were using a pill for heart worm treatment and our dog being so small always had issues after taking this medicine. Following continues complaints they finally told me that there was a different medicine for especially small breeds and I had to buy that pill to try it out although I had already made payments for the other one. The new one worked out fine and when I asked to get that pill I was told that I had to buy it.. Then they told me that I should bring the other pills to get them replaced, which I tried to explain I did not receive the pills for the upcoming 6-moths. They wouldn't listen to me. I was called to bring my pet for her annual check up and also dental. When I dropped her on Monday I asked if the dental was done annually since I thought her dental was done 6 months ago and I didn't want her to anesthetized unnecessarily. They did confirm that the dental was done annually. When my wife picked her late afternoon she wanted to confirm the dates and then they told her she had the dental 6 months ago... Their manager was supposed to call, but no-one calls. If you love your pet don't consider Banfield, they are not customer oriented, they don't care about our pets, all they...
