The Soda Fountain — Restaurant in Orlando

Stopped in for a treat for my toddlers. Drove past this place plenty of times and thought it was a cool little local shop and should try some time. Today was the opportunity.

We got two kids scoops, one cookies and cream on a cone and a blueberry cheese cake in a cup. No complaints about the ice cream at all. Good flavors and verity.

My biggest complaint was the customer service. It fell kinda flat for me, not very inviting or friendly staff. They have two ends one that sells hot dogs and the other side ice cream. The kid working the ice cream shop seemed kinda new, like didn’t know how to operate the register or scoop ice cream. Tried to ring me up for larger scoops. During the payment process, my toddler dropped his scoop from the cone. I looked back up and he acted like he’s never seen a kid drop ice cream before. He didn’t know how to react and looked the guy making hot dogs what to do. Hot Dog guy came over and just reached out to my wife like he wanted us to hand him the dropped scoop and cone. It was an awkward interaction. They replaced the scoop on the old cone, which felt was a bit unsanitary to do. It was very odd situation like could the ice cream kid could have reacted faster, it seemed like he was wondering how to charge for this.

Sitting in the shop was unpleasant. It was hot and muggy from the door being left open. There wasn’t any background music or any life in the shop. Seemed kinda unwelcoming like a drug front.

I love this little ice creme shop and I am sure you are wondering why I only gave it three stars, right? Well, we have been going for the last 5 weeks or so as a date night. The first time we went everything was perfect, we fell in love with the place and went back the next week. They were put of two of the main ingredients you use for a hot fudge Sunday. So we blew it off and went the next week, this time out of three ingredients needed for the hot fudge Sunday including ice creme.. UGH! We really like this place a lot. So we go the following week sorry to report out of things once again. This time we left and didn't get anything. Went over this last weekend on a Saturday thinking maybe they would have everything this time. Nope, had one brownie left. All though we did get something this time I am not sure about going back. It's only about 20 minutes from our home but how do you have an ice creme shop that is ALWAYS out of main ingredients. Ice cream was sub par but the main reason for the one star was the due to the lack of customer service we received. An older bald gentleman with glasses served us but it honestly felt like he didn’t want us there. Not even a smile of how are you from him. He was in the middle of a phone call when we arrived then had to pause it to serve us then started up his call again after. He also did the same with another customer that came after. We honestly felt like burdens as we were made to feel like we were interrupting his day. He also seemed annoyed when we asked for 2 water cups and followed us over to the soda machine to make sure it was only water we were taking. Like WTH!! He served my ice cream in a broken cone (a large chunk was missing out the side - I know he saw this but still decided to serve it) but by that point I was over it so didn’t bother saying anything. I had nice expectations going in but this extremely unfriendly man cheapened and ruined the whole experience.
