We were in area on vacation and like to try new places. Typically we absolutely love Japanese steak houses like these but we were very disappointed in our experience. First of all I had asked for a table for just my family(3) I understand that is the environment of those kinds of restaurants that you may be seated with random people. However it was almost 9 pm amd the restaurant was not busy at all. So they sat is with 2 other couples who were in the process of ordering their meal. We felt rushed trying to review the menu and make our selection. I will say our server was excellent. She was attentive and kept drinks filled etc. Unfortunately she was the only positive of our meal. The chef arrived and did his "show" which again I know that's part of the experience. His food had zero flavor. There were 6 of us at the table and each of us ordered shrimp as part of our meal. So he had 30 plus shrimp that he stirred around on the grill, squirted 2 small lemons on it and probably 1 tablespoon of what we think was soy sauce. But there wasn't enough for us to even get any flavor. After he applied the sauce he stirred the shrimp once and then divided them up and gave them to us. This was the same with all the items of the meal. Minimal sauce and he didn't give the food time to marinate after he applied the sauce. For us it was not flavorful at all. I am used to the chefs adding a generous amount of sauce and then allowing the meat to cook a bit so that it gets the flavor. I am not sure if he was in a hurry because he wanted to go home or if this is their standard way they cook but we will not be back to this restaurant. Also the portion of rice was very small compared to other places we have been to. Typically the chefs will give you a nice spatula size of rice. This guy literally gave us half a spatula that was very thin. My daughter only eats the fried rice and she usually has an entire plate full but she barely had half a plate last night. We spent $100 on our meal (with tip) and were not only very disappointed but also still hungry when we left. We were looking forward to a nice meal and were very...
Read moreThis is my first review on any restaurant and I’m 66 y/o. First, the server we had and the chef were very good. The food was good, not great but good. Now, for the bad……My family of 6 decided to try Koji for the first time and celebrate 3 birthdays. We walked up to the door and noticed an announcement that they were offering a $25 discount for one person in our party during their birth month. The only one to qualify was my 13 y/o granddaughter. We received our final bill which was almost $250 and was asked by our server if my granddaughter had an I.D. To prove her birthday was indeed in April. My daughter said that she did not have an I.D. But she had a photo copy of her passport. We were told that the person in charge said they do not accept photo copies of an I.D. But gave us a$13.00 discount!!! She made us feel like we were stealing from them. Like somehow we conjured up this grand plan to spend $250 to steal $25!!!
First of all what 13 y/o has a government issued I.D. and carries it with them?? When I talked with the person in charge she said, and I’ll paraphrase, ….If I gave everyone who claims it their birthday that comes in and claims the discount they would be out of business!! What the hell kind of answer is that. She was incredibly rude and arrogant and when I told her she lost my business for $12.00 she rudely barked back that I was upset for $12.00. I laughed and keep walking out the door. NEVER AGAIN….NEVER EVER AGAIN WILL I OR ANY MEMBER OF MY FAMILY WILL VISIT THIS ESTABLISHMENT AGAIN!!!!!!...
Read moreReally disappointed with my first experience here which will definitely be my last.. Placed a picked up order of Chicken Teppenyaki and Mochi.. within a few moments got a phone call that they were out of the flavor of mochi I ordered but that was fine and I chose another. However, I noticed after picking up my food, they let the mochi sit out and melt. Could have kept it in the fridge until I picked up my order but instead left it on the hot food to melt. Additionally, the main course was completely inedible..no where on the menu does it say Shrimp will be included.. I absolutely cannot eat shrimp it makes me sick and there were two huge pieces in my dinner. I would have specified to leave it out or ordered something else all together but no where does it say or picture shrimp. I double checked my order and it said chicken with white rice and veggies. There were hardly any veggies, just mushrooms (which I also don’t eat), shrimp, and huge chewy pieces of chicken, the one piece of which I did try tasted old… it was a huge waste of money, time, and food as I could not eat it due to poor taste, poor quality, and not at all what was described at on the menu. Lastly, the side “salad” was a joke. Really sucks after working a double you think you’re gonna treat yourself to a nice dinner and instead basically threw almost $50...
