1/2/23: I wish I could give Mama’s 5 stars as it’s always been, but not anymore. After ordering an appetizer and two slices of pizza, the nice gentleman at the counter told us it would be 30 minutes for our food. Okay, no problem at all. After 55 minutes, we were still waiting for our two slices. I approached the counter and politely asked the same gentleman that originally helped us, “about how much longer do you think it will be for our two slices?” . While he was looking for the ticket, another employee by the name of Adrian, raises his voice at me while waving a slice of stale pizza in the air, and tells me very rudely he didn’t want to give us this stale pizza but if that’s what I want then here it is, while throwing the stale pizza onto the pan. I told him no, I didn’t want the stale pizza and we’ve been waiting for 55 minutes. I asked for a refund. The gentleman voided my ticket. Adrian tells me to go down the street and get a hot and ready for $5, says he doesn’t care and get out, says your ticket is voided you can leave now, and many other comments an employee shouldn’t say to a customer. No apology, no accountability, nothing. Time for Adrian to find a different job. There was no management on site. There was a young guy that said he was the supervisor, but would not step in and take care of the situation. He put his head down and said, Adrian has been here for a long time so I can’t do anything. If I were the owner, I would want to know how my customers are being treated. I feel sorry for the owners of Mama’s. Times are rough right now for locally owned businesses, and with an employee like Adrian, treating customers so terribly, this location will be out of business within a few years. If one reads the reviews for this particular location, they will see reviews have gotten much worse over this past year. That says a lot.
Update 1/6/23: The operator from this location has yet to contact us regarding the above. Funny how little some people care anymore. We will drive the extra for ROSATIS every time!! Better food...
Read moreSo I have lived in Tucson 12 years and finally decided to give this place a try. We went on a Friday afternoon at 4:30, not many folks inside so we figured our pizzas would be out quick since we were dining in as a group of 11. Nope our pizzas took over 40 minutes to get out if not longer. When you order up front you don't realize that your order is behind all the call in orders so there are potentially a lot of pizzas ahead of your order. Wait time was a real bummer we had five hungry kids and food took forever. I have heard good things since I have lived in Tucson about Mama's pizza, but I and the others in our group thought the pizza was average, we got a margarita pizza, pepperoni pizza, and a meat pizza and they were all ok. It was not like the pizza was amazing. I know this location and the others have a special place in the hearts of those who grew up going to them, but it's average pizza at best. The inside furnishings need to be updated as well, booths are very tight, not great tables if you are in a wheelchair, and everything in the place screams late 70s early 80s, and an indoor update to open up the restaurant, brighten it, and modernize the kitchen to get food out faster would be a very good investment. It's not bad pizza and it's not amazing pizza either, so if you want to go out for some middle of the road pizza with 80s decore then this is the place to go, but I will not be returning, but I am glad I finally gave the...
Read moreI decided to try Mama’s Famous Pizza after hearing so many great reviews, but my experience was extremely disappointing from start to finish.
I placed an order through Uber Eats and opted to pick it up. When I arrived, the employee told me it would be about 10 minutes. I waited patiently… but 30 minutes went by with zero updates. My food was just sitting there on the counter. When I finally went up to ask, he casually said, “Sorry, we were out of ranch so we sent someone next door to get more.” Instead of simply communicating that to me, he left me waiting for half an hour. When I expressed how frustrating that was, he literally threw the food at me and tossed me a cannoli as his way of “apologizing.” I asked if I could at least get a soda to take home, and he filled a cup halfway and threw that at me too.
When I got home, the order was completely wrong. They gave me a tiny portion of a completely different pizza than what I ordered and didn’t even bother telling me they had run out. When I mentioned the missing cheesecake I ordered, he said they were out and just decided on his own to swap it for the cannoli.
To top it all off, the food was honestly terrible—there was even a hair in it. Completely unprofessional, rude, and unhygienic.
Terrible experience all around. I won’t be...
