We went there on a Saturday afternoon before the UMaine hockey game. This was my first time there but my husband had been there many years earlier. First, the staff told us to seat ourselves but didn’t mention that the menu was limited to pizza, cheese bread and calzones - the grill wasn’t operating until 3 pm. While it wouldn’t be a big deal for some, it’s a big deal for our picky preschool age kids. My kids wouldn’t eat anything available. Second, my husband’s pepperoni pizza came out with grease under the crust. My son tried it but it was odd texture with oil on bottom of crust. Third, my 4 year old had a meltdown over the pizza so I took him outside to calm down. While outside on a bench, I discovered that the front door was locked and no one could get inside. I went to door and frantically knocked. Finally another customer let another couple in (they said they would tell staff when they got in). I went back to the bench to get my kid and when I returned to door it was locked again. I frantically knock again. Minutes go by until a staff member opens door for me. No apology or anything. My husband spilled his Diet Coke and staff just walked by while he was visibly wet and needed help. I had to get up and ask for a towel. They brought a used dish rag. Overall, it was awful. My husband loves Pat’s Pizza but this...
Read moreWhat a cool and fun place to eat. Vacationing and was told by friends we had to eat at Pat’s Pizza: Family owned and operated since 1931! The place was packed. Bruce, the son of the founders, was working (cleaning and bussing tables) along with his wife, daughter, nephew and who knows what other family members. It says a lot when the owner is out bussing tables. I think he said he was six when his parents opened the original restaurant there in Orono ME. Still there in the same location but now there are 15 additional locations. Amazing. Living history. Oh, and the pizza? Fantastic. I ordered a 9” pepperoni and jalapeño pizza, my wife ordered a 9” tomato and roasted red pepper, and our traveling friends a 9” “Loaded” pizza. All were delicious. We also ordered fried pickles and cheese sticks for apps and they did not disappoint either. Prices were super reasonable and that made the experience all the more better. Definitely a must go to place if you are looking for a pizza experience that is tasty,...
Read moreIt's a busy place. Our 1st pizza was burned, the 2nd could have been cooked a little longer, but it was still decent. (They did offer to let us take the burnt pizza home with us) This is not a handicap accessible building, as far as I saw. You walk up narrow steps, and through 2 single width doors, to get inside. Restrooms are in the basement. Parking is minimal. The building is very clearly ancient, but that's kind of its charm. Family photos and hotrod photos adorn the walls. Old jukeboxes are in each booth, reminding you of the time when you could play music for your individual booth. They don't work anymore, but they're fun to look at. The service has always been very friendly, and the food...
