Woodman's Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Orono

Be wary about this place! I went to a small event here last night and I ordered a beer, everything was fine. Some time passed and I ordered another beer and the bartender (tall guy with long hair)comes back saying my card declined, so I asked him if he can try again because I know I have money. In a rude manner he said, “no, it declined I need another card”. So I gave him a credit card and that worked. Still confused about my card declining I immediately went to the merch table that the band playing there brought and bought something with the same card that “allegedly declined” which went through perfectly fine. I checked my bank account and saw that the transaction for both beers went through. So I just gave the bartender an extra $8 for no reason. I wanted to speak to a manager but the place was so loud, I figured it probably wasn’t the best time to bring this to...

Didn’t actually get to eat here, but was still impressed for the following reason. My wife and I were headed to a Umaine hockey game in Orono. It was about 5:45 the game started at 7. We realized we may be on a small time crunch, but were willing to be a little late. We were met by the maitre d who noticed our Umaine shirts. He pleasantly asked if we were going to the game, which we replied yes and he then informed us they were extremely busy and had just had a bunch of orders placed. The chances of us getting a meal in time would be a miracle. We are welcome to sit at the bar and order an appetizer, but no guarantees on when we would get them. He gave us a couple close recommendations which we ended up going with, but we truly appreciate his honesty and professionalism and I hope we get back there...

Very good food and mostly good service. Excellent, quality ingredients, fun and creative menu. Though there were vegetarian friendly appetizers and salads there was only one vegetarian entree, which was a curry. When I arrived I stood at the host stand for approx 5 minutes while employees walked passed and I was not helped or recognized until other people came in behind me. Service during most of our meal was excellent, including help with allergy concerns. But once our entrees were finished and plates were cleared the server disappeared for probably 20 minutes (and the restaurant is not that big). When she came back a few people got dessert cocktails, but then she disappeared again, had she kept up on our table I'm pretty sure there would have been more drinks. ...
