My wife take's care of clients in their homes. Usually home bound. Her client had heard so many wonderful stories about the food at Jansen's and asked my wife to bring her an order of Pike. We ordered a 3 piece Pike for pick up 40 minutes before she needed to head to work. 20 minutes went by and the restaurant hadn't accepted the order. Which usually means it will be canceled but we gave them the benefit of doubt and tried to call. No answer. The phone just rang and rang and rang. My wife tried, no answer. We ended up calling Eatstreet to cancel the order. My wife needed to leave for work and she was responsible for providing her client with supper. We had to place an ordered with another restaurant and that place(Terry's Bar and Grill) accepted the order almost instantly. They were just as busy as Jansen's. I know because I called to explain what had happened. They rushed an order of fish so my wife would make it to her shift on time. Notice the big difference here? Terry's answered the phone!
Online order problems happen. I get that. When you just ignore your costumers and can't even pick up the phone? Yeah... That isn't cool. My wife and I went through a lot of stress over something that would have completely been avoided if Jansen's had answered the phone. Or better yet It could have been avoided if Jansen's had just listed themselves as unavailable or closed on the delivery apps like Eatstreet.
It is super easy to do. I know because other places do it all the time. Focus on in house guests first. That doesn't mean you can blow off the online community though. This whole mess could have easily been avoid by Jansen's. Thanks for the experience and ultimately making my wife almost late for work. Thankfully Terry's cared enough to make it happen.
I did contact Jansen's through Facebook messenger and instantly got a reply. All I got were a bunch of excuses. Whether valid or not really doesn't matter. Again this could have been avoided by disabling online orders. Funny how someone can reply to my inquiry on their phone while they are so 'busy' but can't answer the phone when I called the...
Read moreWe went to this place because the reviews were so great. Let me just be the reality check here and save the next poor soul who looks at the reviews like me and think “ wow it must be really good”. It’s not. I got the 16oz perch fist fry. Their big thing is you can have fish fry any time of the week. I figured it HAS to be good then.... literally the blandest breading ever. I mean NO seasoning at all. It had waaaay too many bones in it for a place that does fish fry every day of the week. It’s a pan fish... which is the easiest fish to fillet. It was also extremely dry and extra fishy flavor... so I’m assuming it’s old. I got the potatoe pancakes = smashed tater tots. I’m not joking. I should have taken a picture. My husband got the chicken Alfredo. Which was an oily and seemed like jarred sauce. It was gross. We both had a salad that had old cucumbers and tomatoes on it. And to top it off the lady sitting next to us was beyond plastered and was so disturbing I couldn’t even have a conversation with my husband. I just kept watching the train wreck next to us.
The one great thing I will say about this place is that the drinks were awesome and they had a great selection of top shelf whiskeys and a decent assortment of wine for a bar like that. Also the waitstaff are the sweetest ladies you will ever meet. They are the only reason I was willing to accept paying $60 for 4 drinks an app and our two meals. We could have went to Friar Tucks in fdl and got the same thing for 30, but it would have taste better and no bar hags.
Please don’t go here
Update My husband and I are both sick now... so yea....
Read moreMy boyfriend and I tried this place out for our 7 year anniversary. I got the half grilled haddock with a house salad and Cole slaw. The fish tasted very fresh and the coleslaw was insane! I have never had just red cabbage coleslaw but it was delicious! My only complaint is I wish the slaw portion was bigger! My boyfriend got the fried whole haddock with a baked potato and their chicken dumpling soup. The soup was packed full of flavor and he said the fish was the best fish fry he has had in a very long time. The baked potato was still wrapped in tinfoil and was phenomenal with just a little butter. Our waitress Misty, said it was only her 3rd night but she was super friendly and did awesome! I would have no idea it was only her third night. She also recommended I got the moscato (I have never had before) and I found my new go to drink. She was so real and on top of it. The chef came to every table including ours and once my boyfriend mentioned that it was our anniversary he mentioned he made a fresh batch of tiramisu with gram crackers and espresso bourbon. It wasn’t on the dessert menu for that night but we were able to snag our hands on it. My boyfriend isn’t a huge sweets guy and he ate even more than me! All the staff was super friendly and attentive. This place is under new management and you can tell some serious work has been put into this place! I recommend...
