The recent remodeling eradicated everything friendly and comfortable of this Starbuck's atmosphere. I DO understand the workspace area is now more efficient for the employees, who primarily serve the drive-through customers, but every speck of pleasant ambiance for eat/drink-in customers has been reduced to zero. It would have been far more efficacious to just have posted "NO LOITERING" signs. The atmosphere of the vendor now (I hesitate to call it a coffee shop) clearly states "get your coffee and get the hell out of here." THIS IS A DRIVE-THROUGH STARBUCKS. WE'RE HERE TO MAKE MONEY FROM THOSE QUICKY CUSTOMERS IN THEIR CARS, NOT YOU TABLE-HOGGING, SLOW TURNOVER TIGHTWADS. WE HAVE OUR BOTTOM LINE TO CONSIDER, AND HAVING YOU DAMN STUDENTS AND OTHERS HANGING AROUND HERE IS A WASTE OF SPACE AND A HUGE PROFIT-SUCK.
Did you, as a kid, want to linger at those long, uncomfortable narrow tables with the rather painful,, too-close-together seats in the school cafeteria? Well, that's the ambiance the new, long table down the middle of this store replicates. Hospital and jail lunchrooms also come to mind. And only a handful of unsociably re-situated tables remain. More comfortable to drink your coffee in your car in the parking lot.
If, as it appears, this Starbucks location wants to be drive-through only, the company should have made it just that--a nice, friendly drive-through location (without an uninviting, strictly utilitarian "cafe" space attached.) Or why did they not spend the money to lease a bigger space? Persuade U. S. Cellular next door to move, or something?) Expand, rather than contract cafe space, make it both efficient AND cosy, and turn it into a destination place to enjoy coffee and food, albeit in a strip mall?
It's not like Fairview Shopping Center has a dearth of available space--note all the empty storefronts, all around.
Bad decision, waste of money, and the most uninviting coffee shop outside of an office building or an institution I have ever seen.
I guess the coffee is still good. But there is plenty of good, or at least pretty good, coffee around these days.
Check out the Quik Trip around the corner on Jackson. The atmosphere is a lot more upbeat, the coffee ain't bad, and it...
Read moreI’ve been a Starbucks customer for many years and have been able to see trends and changes over that time. Other than the fact they don’t actually brew the regular coffee anymore the worst trend has been whatever they have to done to make the lids no longer safely cover the cup. 20 years ago, the lids and cups were fine, and that held real strong until about 5 years ago when they must have decided in a board room somewhere that it would be ok for the lid to drip in someone’s car and on their clothes every once in awhile. Just a slow drip, like just enough to have a few spots on the seat of your car or your pants. I’m assuming that decision was made to the tune of saving an unnoticeably small amount of money per each cup. Fast forward to about a year ago and then you will see the next progression in the story. This would be lids that work like a jack in the box. You squeeze your cup ever so slightly, like the force that may be required to actually pick it up and drink it and then you wait for the lid to randomly just pop off. Again, likely trying to save a penny or two. But now I’m in my car, wearing my coffee and think that I am finally done spinning the roulette wheel of “can I make it to my destination without scalding my hand and flooding my truck with coffee”. Some say this is to start training people to bring their own cup. If that’s the case, that’s fine. There are plenty of other coffee places to go that are more than happy to provide a cup with their coffee, one that works. It usually...
Read moreI've done both dine in and take out. My experience with both has been bad. I was curious if anyone else also had bad experiences. I do mobile ordering so it's easier for me to order exactly what I want. The first time my drink was made good. But had to much ice. I'm not picky but the first time I ordered I did mobile and went in. I saw my drink was already at the counter. There was no ordering line just people waiting for there orders. I said excuse me. No one answered me. I stood for a while. Then someone from the drive thru window came up to me asking what I needed. I said this is my order and asked if I needed to confirm it was me or anything. She had a snippy attitude with me and said no you can just take it and go. The second order I made there was almost no strawberry in it when I order two scoops and the woman at the window interrupted me to let me know I needed to wait at the order window to tell her why I was there. There was no one there. Because she interrupted .me she didn't get my order name. I have never had this problem at ANY of the other Starbucks and the ladies are very nice to me at the other ones. So I will now drive to the other side of town everytime I want a drink. I recommend not coming here if you want customers always right cause they are not nice to there customers. I've given...
